Netflix Testing Feature Which Allows Users To Instantly Rewatch Memorable Scenes

Netflix is testing a novel feature that would hand users the privilege of replaying scenes instantly, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

The streaming company is always exploring new hacks and features and they have decided to run a test on an instant replay operation that will allow viewers to replay any must-see scene from a movie or show.

So that epic fight from Daredevil, that shocking scene from Stranger Things - perhaps a genius moment from House of Cards? Users might be able to instantly rewatch them with the click of a remote or touch of a screen.

The feature will appear as a pop-up after certain scenes but is only available for a selection of the company's original and licensed content.

Netflix has confirmed that the feature is currently being tested but they haven't decided on whether or not they will roll it out or keep it on as a permanent feature.

"We're trying out a feature which gives Netflix members the ability rewatch favorite scenes and memorable moments with the click of a button," Netflix said in an emailed statement to the aforementioned publication. "Right now we're just looking to learn from it and may or may not roll it out more broadly in the future."

The company declined to provide any information regarding the duration of the test or the feedback it has gotten so far. But certain subscribers have already taken to social media to blast the replay feature, claiming it's "disruptive and intrusive to the viewing experience".

As mentioned above, the company has been both testing and rolling features out on a regular basis. This year, they introduced "smart downloads", a function which automatically deletes an episode from a series after a user watches it before downloading the following one.

They are also offering a new interface for televisions which they claim will improve navigation.
