All while new releases are taking the tech world by storm, Apple is making half a billion dollar transactions. Although Apple isn’t just spending their money on anything, it turns out (according to Daily Mail) they have officially sealed the deal on purchasing everyone’s favorite song discovering app, Shazam. The app is able to identify a song from listening to seconds of it. It allows you to know the title, and artist of the song so that you can continue to enjoy it for time to come. Shazam, which was one of the top 10 applications in 2013 and on, is a music lover's dream for recognizing songs they love without knowing what artist sings it.

The idea behind the app is pure genius, considering everyone at some point or another has been forced to ask, “what song is this?” and behold, the trust Shazam app is there to help you out. Now that the news is out, Apple has yet to actually disclose how much the purchase cost, but earlier reports claim that they paid around $400 million for the app. Shazam has been downloaded over one billion times from within the app store, so it goes without saying that people are definitely using this great music app.

Being one of the first apps available in the Apple Store, the two have a long history together, and it only makes sense that Apple officially own the app. Apple announced that the acquisition was a “natural fit,” for the company, and how they are excited for what the future of  Shazam holds. As for the app itself, it is not only readily available in Siri but is now able to decipher television shows along with songs too! This is a huge move for Apple, and we’re certain it will pay off very fast!
