However, the life of a celebrity is not always easy, especially when it comes to making relationships work. This is why many high profile, Hollywood marriages end in divorce. This leaves many celebrities having to shell out large amounts of cash in order to maintain the lavish lifestyle for their exes and children. It is unbelievable that many celeb exes claim that it costs over $40,000 per month to care for a child. Here is a look at what celebrities have had to pay when it comes to child and or spousal support.

The child support was increased by $5,000 in 2008 after Spears’ public meltdown, forcing Federline to take sole custody of the two children. It was during that time that Spears was awarded visitation rights, seeing them twice a week and having one overnight stay. It has been reported that since then Spears has had her visitation rights increased.
Eddie Murphy – $59,950/month
Actor, Eddie Murphy entered into a bitter legal battle with his ex-girlfriend, ex-Spice Girl, Melanie Brown. Brown gave birth to their child in 2008 after Murphy had broken up with her while she was five months pregnant. Murphy even had a DNA test completed in order to prove he was the father. In 2009, Murphy was ordered to pay $59,950 per month for child support and he agreed to cover any of Brown’s pregnancy expenses that she may have incurred.
Ronald Perelman- $12,825/month
Billionaire, Ronald Perelman was the head of Revlon Inc. at the time of his divorce in 1996. However, it wasn’t until 1999 when a judge ordered Perelman to pay his ex-wife $12,825 a month in child support. The court order left Perelman’s ex-wife, Patricia Duff in disdain as she was originally asking for $132,000 per month in order to care for her child. The judge threw out that request calling it rubbish and stating that he hopes the child’s parents will be able to teach her to value people for who they are and not what they have.
Russell Simmons – $40,000/month
Co-founder of Def Jam Records, Russell Simmons was ordered to pay $20,000 for each of his two children per month until they turn 19 to his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons. In the couple’s divorce settlement, Simmons was not only ordered to pay $40,000 in child support, but he also agreed to provide a new car that is at least worth $60,000 for his children to be transported in and the car is to be replaced every three years. This is to be done until the twin girls reach the age of 16, as Simmons will then be buying them cars of their own.
Sean “P. Diddy” Combs – $41,782/month
In 2001, it was reported that rapper, Sean, “P. Diddy” Combs was ordered to pay his ex-girlfriend Kim Porter $20,000 a month in child support for their son, Christian. This was on top of Combs paying Porter a lump sum of $150,000 as well as covering the child’s college tuition, insurance costs and Porter’s legal fees. Combs also took out a $2 million life insurance policy with Christian being named the beneficiary. Later in 2005, Combs was taken back to court by another ex-girlfriend, Misa Hylton-Brim, where she was granted an increase in child support, from $5,000 to $21,782 per month. This at the time was reportedly the highest child support payment in New York state history.
Francois-Henri Pinault – $46,000/month
Billionaire, Francois-Henri Pinault is the CEO of luxury goods group, Kering, the brand owns fashion houses such as Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Pinault is currently married to actress, Salma Hayek, but it was his fling before Hayek that now costs him around $46,000 per month. Pinault had a very brief relationship with supermodel, Linda Evangelista in 2005. Evangelista claims it ended when she told Pinault that she was pregnant with their son Augie and in 2012 their child support case was finally settled. Evangelista was asking for Pinault to cover the $46,000 a month that she pays for her son’s expenses. The $46,000 covers items such as 24-hour nannies and armed drivers.
Mel Gibson – $20,000/month
Actor, Mel Gibson has been court ordered to pay $20,000 per month to his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva for their daughter, Lucia. The couple who dated for three years, share 50-50 custody of Lucia and Gibson has also agreed to pay Grigorieva $750,000 in installments over five years. This is on top of Gibson allowing Grigorieva to live in a house that he owns until Lucia is 18 years old. It is at that time that Gibson is to sell the house and put the proceeds of the sale into a trust for his daughter.
Rapper, Nas went through a rough legal dispute when it came to discussing child and spousal support with his ex-wife, Kelis. In 2009, the “Milkshake” singer filed for divorce from Nas when she was seven months pregnant. It was then that Nas was court ordered to pay $40,000 per month in child and spousal support to Kelis. However, in 2011 it was reported that Nas’ payments were reduced to $25,000 a month. The rapper spoke about his legal disputes, stating that he ended up paying more money to his baby mommas than what some of his rap brothers and sisters make. Kelis stated that she regretted nothing about the divorce as it was a lesson that needed to be learned.
Kirk Kerkorian- $100,000/month
Billionaire casino mogul, Kirk Kerkorian strangely settled to pay $100,000 per month for a child that is not biologically his. Kerkorian’s ex-wife, Lisa Bonder Kerkorian, whom he was only married to for 28 days back in 1999, admitted to falsifying a DNA test that claimed Kerkorian to be the actual father of 12-year old, Kira. When in reality, Kira’s real father is Hollywood movie producer, Stephen Bing, who also has a child with actress, Elizabeth Hurley. Court documents show that the settlement included that Kerkorian is to pay $100,000 per month until the child reaches age 19, and then the child support will be reduced to $50,000 a month. Kerkorian is also responsible to pay for the girl’s expenses which include equestrian lessons, travel, clothing, tutoring, parties and pets.
Charlie Sheen – $110,000/month
Anger Management star, Charlie Sheen knows all too well what it’s like to hand over a good amount of money each month for child support. He pays ex-wife Denise Richards $55,000 per month for their two daughters, Lola and Sam and he also pays his ex-wife Brooke Mueller $55,000 per month for their twin boys, Bob and Max. Mueller’s child support was reduced to $20,000 per month when she briefly lost custody of the twins for a few months last year. However, it has since been reinstated to $55,000. This past April, Sheen decided to withhold child support from Richards, claiming that she spends too excessively and she does not let him see his daughters. Last heard on this issue was that Richards was lining up lawyers to take Sheen back to court.
