The Oprah Winfrey Network started small, with just a neighborhood Chicago talk program that paved the way to many more offers. Oprah, examining issues from "how to get the man or lady of your dreams" to nearby neighborhood issues. Although it was "The Phil Donahue Show" was what expedited Oprah's syndication in 1986 – and the rest, as its been said, is history.
At the time she began, she slipped into feeding the junk TV sensation, in which daytime commercial programs like Oprah's exhibited tawdry tales from the mysterious lives of ordinary Americans. The Oprah Winfrey show kept this configuration until 2001, as it was a great opportunity to recharge her contract. She then chose to center show themes or all the more elevating and generous issues (in addition to the infrequent visit from a famous person or two – eminently Tom Cruise's 2005 love seat bouncing announcement of adoration for performing artist Katie Holmes).
Oprah made headlines with the debut of her 19th season. She surprised guests when she gave each member of her audience a new car. The autos were given by Pontiac as a major aspect of an attention stunt – which worked, since that show has been named one of the most amazing minutes in TV history.
