Are These 10 Beautiful Women Gold Diggers Or Was it True Love?

Everyone has different priorities when it comes to what they're looking for in a romantic partner. For some, a sense of humor is an absolute must-have, while others are more interested in superficial things like height, and general physical appearance. Obviously, it would be nice to find someone that has it all-- personality, looks, and money. But that still doesn't guarantee a strong connection.

In the celebrity world, it's a lot easier to find someone with looks, money, and often both. That means a lot of celebrities have to be careful about who they date, because there are always going to be people who just want them for their money and fame. Also, a lot of successful businessmen who might not necessarily be famous, but are extremely wealthy, often have access to gorgeous women.

The term "gold digger" comes to mind when you see an older, average looking guy with a young, beautiful woman. We tend to immediately assume that she's just after his money, and while that is common, it's not always the case. Technically it's none of our business, but that will never stop us from speculating. So what do you think? Are these 10 beautiful women just gold diggers, or is it true love?

10 Vanessa Bryant

via bet.com

Lots of people choose to stay with someone who is caught cheating on them, but not that many people have to deal with a very public scandal, and intense scrutiny of their decisions. No one would have blamed Vanessa Bryant if she walked away from her marriage to NBA star, Kobe Bryant, after he was not only caught cheating, but also accused of sexual assault.

But she didn't. The question is, was it because she didn't want to get off the gravy train that was their marriage (he bought her a $4 million ring as an apology), or is she just so head over heels in love with the guy that she can't imagine life without him? The fact that they didn't have a prenup might indicate that there's at least a little love there, because she'd most likely get a pretty hefty settlement if they did divorce.

9 Kim Kardashian

via usmagazine.com

Kim Kardashian has always been accused of being famous for nothing. She's used her relationships (read: sex tape) to get ahead, and she would never be where she is today without the help of a few high profile men. She may be a successful businesswoman now, but it's not as if she did it all on her own.

The same year her sex tape with Ray J came out, Keeping Up With The Kardashians started airing. Now that she's married to Kanye West, her fame has reached epic proportions. She may not need his money anymore, but she definitely needed his influence in order to earn a little more credibility. So maybe she's just a new, modern kind of gold digger.

Gold Digger or True Love?

8 Kimora Lee Simmons

Kimora Lee started dating Russell Simmons when she was 17 and he was 35, but they didn't get married until 1998, when she was 23. Although she was a relatively successful model before they got married, Simmons was obviously the wealthier of the two with his hip-hop label, Def Jam, and fashion brand, Phat Farm.

Kimora used her husband's connections to move up to Creative Director of Baby Phat, and launched her own fashion lines. She filed for divorce in 2006, but continued working at Phat Farm. The age difference is the main clue that Kimora might not have been in it for love, but she had two kids with Russell, so maybe it was a little bit of both.

7 Rachel Roy

via centrictv.com

When she was still an aspiring fashion designer, Rachel Roy got an internship at Rocawear where she met her future husband, Damon Dash. She worked her way up to creative director of the women's and children's divisions, and she and Dash got married in 2005, the same year she launched her own fashion line.

Some have accused her of being a gold digger, but it seems more like she took advantage of the opportunities she had, worked hard, and used her talent to become the successful designer she is today. A few scandals don't hurt either-- her friendship with Jay-Z was rumored to be the cause of the infamous elevator fight between Solange Knowles and Jay-Z at the 2014 Met Gala.

6 Elin Nordegren

As far as messy divorces go, Elin Nordegren, the ex-wife of pro golfer Tiger Woods has come out of their six year marriage relatively unscathed. Since Woods' extensive infidelity was revealed to the world, he ended up paying her a $100 million settlement. Elin was an unknown Swedish model when she moved to the U.S to work as a nanny for another pro golfer's children.

Allegedly, there were more than a few single golfers interested in her, but she chose Woods, arguably the most famous (and richest) pro golfer in the world at the time. They got married in 2004, and had two kids together before Woods cheating ways came out. No one can really blame her for leaving him though, and at least she's set for life now.

5 Rachel Hunter

via rollingstone.com

Rachel Hunter was only known for being a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model until she married Rod Stewart in 1990, when she was only 21 years old. He was 24 years older than her, but they stayed together for nine years and had two children together. Their divorce wasn't finalized until 2006.

Although Hunter may have been looking for an older guy to take care of her, Stewart was more than willing to be that guy. He was a known ladies man, and has had eight children with five different women. He's been quoted as saying, "instead of getting married again, I'm going to find a woman I don't like and just give her a house." Relationships are expensive when you're rich.

4 Salma Hayek

via businessinsider.com

By the time Salma Hayek announced her engagement to French billionaire, Francois-Henri Pinault, she was already a successful A-list Hollywood actress. So maybe she didn't exactly appear from obscurity in search of a sugar daddy. But you have to wonder what a woman as beautiful as Hayek sees in Pinault.

He was also linked to supermodel Linda Evangelista in the past, so he must have a good personality to go along with his large bank account. Hayek had a daughter with Pinault in 2008, and they got married in 2009. They're still going strong, so what do you think?

Gold Digger or True Love?

3 Heather Mills

via money.aol.co.uk

Heather Mills, the ex-wife of Paul McCartney, was an experienced gold digger before she ever met the Beatle. Her first husband was 10 years older than her and he showered her in gifts and paid for cosmetic surgery. She was also the mistress of a Lebanese millionaire for a couple years. Although Mills was engaged to someone else when she met McCartney, they ended up getting married in 2002 and having one daughter together before it all fell apart.

After a very public court battle, Mills was awarded £24.3 million, plus payments of £35,000 per year, for a nanny and school costs for their daughter. She claims she will always love Paul and she only wanted the money in order to take care of their child, but obviously she's been accustomed to a lavish lifestyle and she wouldn't want to give that up.

Gold Digger or True Love?

2 Courtney Stodden

via usmagazine.com

When actor Doug Hutchison married 16-year-old Courtney Stodden in 2011, people were confused. He was 50, and not exactly an A-lister, so what did she see in him? Hutchison was disowned by his family, received death threats, and been called a pedophile because of their marriage. They appeared on VH1's Couple's Therapy which helped to shed some light on their relationship, and the therapist on the show said she didn't believe Hutchison was a predator, but their age difference has definitely been a problem.

While Stodden might not get millions of dollars out of this marriage, it has definitely put her in the spotlight and given her a chance to pursue a career in show business, which she might not have had before. So which is it?

Gold Digger or True Love?

1 Anna Nicole Smith

via nowherebutpop.com

It doesn't get much more obvious than Anna Nicole Smith's marriage to oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall. She was 26 and he was 89 when they tied the knot. What could they possibly have had in common?! Although Smith insisted she loved him and didn't marry him for his money, she reportedly never lived with him, never made love to him, or kissed him on the mouth more than ten times.

Marshall died only 13 months after they were married and although Smith was not officially in his will, she claimed he'd verbally promised her half his estate if she married him. The case has gone through numerous appeals ever since Smith's death in 2007, but the latest ruling has denied Smith's estate an inheritance.
