10 Celebs Who Pay The Highest Child Support Bills

Whether you are a celebrity or part of the working class, we can all agree that having children can be pretty expensive. From the hospital bill that comes with labor and delivery, to clothing, diapers and all of the other necessities for raising a child. Anyone would do their best to save as much money as possible. And that’s not even including health care costs, tuition, birthday and holiday gifts that come with raising a son or daughter.

While being a parent is one of the greatest joys many people experience, having a child comes with a wealth of responsibilities. Celebrities who don’t have primary custody of their children are often ordered to pay child support.

Celebrities are not exempt from this obligation, especially when they decide to separate from their partners. Some of Hollywood’s elite have to pay a pretty penny to make sure their children are well taken care of. Some of these large child support checks may be the result of scorned exes, but in the end, it’s all about making sure that the children’s best interests are taken care of. Here are 10 celebrities who are obligated to pay $20,000 or more in child support payments per month.

10 Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson, who is just as well-known for his drama nowadays as he is for his acting, can't escape paying child support. The courts don’t seem to care much about his fame, because he is ordered to pay his ex-wife Oksana Grigorieva, $20,000 a month for their four-year-old daughter. Gibson is looking to increase custody of his child so that his payments can be reduced. According to reports, Gibson is planning on taking his ex-wife back to court to prove that she is an unfit mother, so that his daughter can live with him most of the time. Grigorieva was originally getting alimony from Gibson, but the remaining $375,000 she was owed in alimony has been cancelled since she violated a confidentiality clause. This provides some financial relief for Gibson, so hopefully child support payments won’t be an issue.

9 Britney Spears

The Princess of Pop is ordered to pay her ex-husband, dancer Kevin Federline, $20,000 in child support for their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden. The two got divorced in 2007, and Federline had to take principal custody of his sons with Spears, when the singer had a breakdown in 2008. Kevin has stated that the divorce took him by surprise, but he quickly moved on to Victoria Prince, with whom he has a daughter. Federline also has children with actress Shar Jackson. Clearly, there’s a lot of child support money going around in this situation. In 2010 alone, Spears was ordered to pay more than $300,000 for the care of her sons.

8 Russell Simmons

Russell Simmons, a successful businessman and positive figure in the hip hop industry, was once married to model and mogul Kimora Lee Simmons. The two have two daughters, Ming Lee and Aioki Lee. After their divorce, Russell was ordered to pay $40,000 a month for child support. The child support is reportedly in effect until the girls turn 19. Simmons’ ex-wife was awarded sole custody of the girls, but Russell apparently visits his children often and has a great friendship with his ex. The two still work together on business ventures, and Russell Simmons was even in attendance at Kimora’s recent baby shower for her fourth child. It’s safe to say that paying a year’s salary every 30 days for the well-being of his children hasn’t made him bitter, and that’s good to see.

7 Francois Henri-Pinault

The wealthy Henri-Pinault is the CEO of Kering, and has been with the company since 1987. He is perhaps best known these days, for being actress Salma Hayek’s husband. Francois has also recently settled on an amount for child support with his ex, model Linda Evangelista. The two have a five-year-old son together. While all the details of the child support case aren’t available, Henri-Pinault will have to pay at least $46,000 per month for the care of his son. Evangelista claims that she had to spend that amount each month to pay for things like a 24-hour nanny and bodyguards for her little boy.

6 Eddie Murphy

The actor, comedian, writer, singer and director has eight children to support. Eddie Murphy was married to model and actress Nicole Murphy, until 2006, and the couple have five children together. Eddie Murphy also has two children from a previous marriage.

After his divorce from Nicole, he was in a relationship with Spice Girls' Mel B and the two had a daughter together. Initially, Murphy denied paternity of the child until a DNA test proved otherwise, making his daughter with Mel B child number 8. Murphy is ordered to pay Mel B $51,000 a month in child support, which doesn't even include the children he had with his ex-wife Nicole, and the children he fathered before the marriage.

There’s talk of a Beverly Hills Cop remake in the works, which is one of Eddie’s most popular movies. We’re hoping this works out, so he can continue making enough money to ensure that his children are living well.

5 Stevie J

Music producer and Love and Hip Hop cast member, Stevie J has been in a long battle with an ex-girlfriend concerning child support for the two children he had with her. It would seem that his long-standing career in music and ensemble role on a hit VH1 reality show would provide him with the funds to care for his children. According to the courts, he owes more than $1 million in child support back payments, and was arrested recently for failing to pay child support to another woman he has a child with. This comes out to over $80,000 per month.

4 Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen reportedly owes $105,000 in child support. This may sound like a pretty outrageous amount, But the actor has four children to care for. Sheen was once married to actress Denise Richards, to whom he must pay $50,000 per month in child support for his two daughters, Sam and Lola. He was also married to Brooke Mueller, and had twin sons with her, Bob and Max. Sheen is obligated to pay $55,000 a month to Mueller to care for the twins. Hopefully, Charlie will take on more acting roles soon, so he can keep up with his payments. We’re also hopeful that he will stay clean and sober so he can maintain a long-standing job.

3 Nas

This talented rapper might do well to get back in the studio pretty soon, since he has been ordered to pay his ex-wife, singer Kelis, more than $350,000 in back child support. That comes out to $51,000 per month. For quite some time, Nas tried to dispute the child support order, citing that the amount was too high. The couple divorced when Kelis was 7 months pregnant with their son Knight, and she has stated that she was completely financially dependent on Nas at one point. Kelis has also stated that he owes her back child support as well. That’s got to put a hurting on his wallet.

2 Sean Combs

This music mogul has plenty of child support to pay to care for his sons and daughters, which includes a set of twin girls. Just for his oldest son Justin, Combs he has to pay nearly $20,000 a month to maintain his child’s lifestyle. According to Justin’s mother, the money is necessary to pay for childcare, health and dental insurance, and travel for Justin. Reportedly, Sean 'Diddy' Combs has also agreed to pay more than $4.5 million in child support for his youngest son, Christian. The rapper and businessman’s lawyer has stated that his legal team is in the process of reducing his child support payments. After all, he’s got a lot of mouths to feed.

1 Kirk Kerkorian

This casino mogul knows a thing or two about rolling in the big bucks, and shelling them out. His net worth is over $3 billion, so paying $100,000 a month in child support doesn't put too much of a dent in his pocket. He pays support for his 13-year-old daughter Kira, and is obligated to pay for her basic needs until she turns 19 or is no longer a full-time student. After Kira is no longer in school, Kerkorian will be required to pay $50,000 a month. Surprisingly, whether or not Kerkorian is Kira’s biological father, is still being disputed.
