10 Stars Who Smoke Weed And Don't Care Who Knows

Whether you refer to it as smoking pot, getting high or passing the joint, chances are you know the negative impressions that often come with using marijuana. Even though most people use the drug for recreational purposes, marijuana does have medicinal purposes, and many people in the U.S. are fighting to make the use of cannabis oil, legal in order to improve the health of the seriously ill. Some states have already granted permission for marijuana to be utilized in a responsible way to improve physical conditions.

But let's face it. Weed is often used as a way to help creative people relax and produce some of their best work. While the herb has different effects on different people, it's safe to say that the celebrities who enjoy partaking in marijuana have nothing but great things to say about it. These people are not the type of stoners that sit on the couch all day eating processed snacks and playing video games. Some of these celebrities are well into their 40s and 50s, and still believe that weed has its benefits when you just want to have a good time. Here are 10 celebrities who are perfectly fine with the fact that they smoke marijuana.

10 Woody Harrelson

The veteran actor has long protested the U.S. policy against marijuana. He has even gone on record as admitting to being an avid pot smoker. Apparently, weed hasn't stopped Woody Harrelson from having a very successful career. His most recent work includes starring in the HBO drama True Detective, with fellow marijuana advocate Matthew McConaughey. Woody Harrelson was also a double Academy Award nominee, receiving Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor nominations for his roles in The People vs. Larry Flynt and The Messenger. You may also remember him for his brief stint as Grace Adler's well-being but slightly chauvinistic and air-headed boyfriend on Will and Grace.

9 Kisten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst has stated that she feels the world would be a better place if everyone smoked weed. She has also expressed that, in her opinion, the U.S. policy on marijuana is ridiculous. Dunst has been in Hollywood for a while, and has modeling, acting and directing credits under her belt. Some of her most memorable roles were in films such as Bring it On, Wag the Dog, Crazy/Beautiful and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. When she starred in the film Get Over It, she showcased her singing skills for the first time. Perhaps her courage came from a herbal form of relaxation.

8 Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen is a Canadian actor, director, comic and director who used to write for Da Ali G Show. He was also a writer for the show Undeclared, which was a short-lived sitcom. And when he's creating his own comedic masterpieces for the big screen, he's known to have herbal inspiration to spur on the jokes. Along with his writing partner Evan Goldberg, Seth wrote Superbad, Pineapple Express, This Is The End and The Interview. Rogen has also lent his voice talent to animated films such as Kung Fu Panda and its sequel, Monsters vs. Aliens and Horton Hears a Who!

7 Matthew McConaughey

In 1999, Matthew McConaughey was arrested at his home in Austin, Texas, for having marijuana in his possession. When the cops arrived, they also found the actor in the buff, playing the bongos. Apparently, his marijuana had not gone to waste. McConaughey started his career when he starred in the 1993 movie Dazed & Confused, in which he played a stoner. We're guessing he didn't have to do a whole lot of research for the role. He went on to pursue notable acting ventures, such as the role of a cowboy dealing with AIDS in Dallas Buyers Club, and won a Critic's Choice Award for his role in True Detective.

6 Justin Timberlake

The former boy band member and successful solo artist and actor has said that he thinks that weed just makes some people better. He also stated that smoking helps him not to think so much, which could mean that marijuana helps him to calm down. Timberlake has starred in films such as Bad Teacher, Friends with Benefits, In Time and The Social Network. His latest musical project, The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience-2 of 2, showcase his smooth crooning skills and his love for partying and having a good time. Timberlake has won four Emmys and nine Grammys awards for his work. His most recent accomplishment, however, is the birth of his son with wife and actress Jessica Biel.

5 Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus has gone to great lengths to convince the world that she's no longer the innocent and bubbly Disney kid who played the titular role of Hannah Montana on the popular children's sitcom. Her self-professed love for weed is certainly helping people to see her in a different light. She even lit up a joint and smoked it on stage at the 2013 European Music Awards. During her Bangerz tour last year, Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter sold gold rolling papers for $65. The papers were edible, which added even more appeal for fellow smokers. It seems like Miley is still business-minded, even though she's a big fan of…relaxing.

4 Jennifer Aniston

Everyone's favorite Friend revealed to Rolling Stone that she "enjoys cannabis." This may or may not come as a surprise, since Aniston did smoke cigarettes for quite some time and stated that it was difficult for her to quit. Maybe marijuana replaced what is arguably a more harmful habit. In addition to starring in one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, Jennifer Aniston has also had an impressive movie career. She has starred in films like He's Just Not That Into You, Marley & Me, Horrible Bosses, We're The Millers and Cake.

3 Whoopi Goldberg

The outspoken host of The View has long been a fan of marijuana, and currently takes medical cannabis as treatment for her glaucoma. She believes the drug should be legalized, and it's clear that there are several celebrities who agree with her. Whoopi, who was born Caryn Johnson, is known for her stand-up comedy specials, as well as her moving roles in films like The Color Purple and Ghost. She's also one of few entertainers that can call themselves EGOTs- she won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. She was also the executive producer for the popular TV game show Hollywood Squares, from 1998 to 2004.

2 Rihanna

It's no secret that Rihanna loves marijuana. One look at her Instagram account and you'll see that she definitely has an affinity for the herb. She allegedly wanted to cut down, because she felt that her habit was becoming a bit of a problem. The 'Umbrella' singer could possibly use weed as a way to get into her creative zone, four of her albums: Rated R, Loud, Talk That Talk and Unapologetic went platinum. Unapologetic was also her first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200. Rihanna is also viewed as a fashion icon, and was awarded the Fashion Icon lifetime achievement award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

1 Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg has long been known as The Weed Rapper. His love for cannabis has never been hidden, and he has often crafted an affectionate lyric celebrating his favorite pastime. The California rapper rose to prominence in the early 1990s, and his album, Tha Doggfather was certified double platinum in 1997. His additional successful albums include Tha Last Meal, Doggumentary, The Masterpiece and Tha Blue Carpet Treatment. Snoop also had a reality show that featured his family, called Snoop Dogg's Father Hood and was the host of Dogg After Dark. After spending some time in Jamaica in 2013 and converting to the Rastafari movement, Snoop Dogg decided to change his name to Snoop Lion, and released a documentary film and reggae album in celebration of his experience.
