10 Of The Biggest Celebrity Momma's Boys

Not matter how old, and how much they tend to grow, there are some men who are always going to have a close relationship with their mothers. We all tend to know a male or two who is attached to their Mom. Many male celebrities are no different.

Becoming a celebrity can be a long process. Talent is often garnered from an early age, and most of the time, a parent is behind this. It takes a keen, risk-taking mother (or father) to identify the talent of their child and then find them opportunities at a young age to help grow their skill, whether it is acting or singing. When success comes about, a mother is therefore very much responsible for kick-starting the journey that helps a celebrity get to the top. With their mother side by side, it comes as no surprise to see that some male celebrities are very close to their mothers.

In many of the cases we present to you, these mothers have single-handedly raised their sons after separating or divorcing from their child’s father. This has only helped the bond between them to become stronger. For these celebrities, their mothers are no doubt the main female figure in their life, of course with a special place for significant others too! Take a look at some of the biggest Momma’s boys in the entertainment world.

10 George Clooney

George Clooney is frequently seen arm in arm on the red carpet with his mother, Nina Bruce. Nina too was in the showbiz industry in her younger years. She was a beauty queen in Ohio before getting married to Clooney’s father, Nick Clooney.

The actor who in the past has had trouble finding love has always been rather close to his mother. Back when he was dating Elisabetta Canalis, he appeared on the red carpet with both Canalis and his mother for the premiere of his film Up In The Air. In fact, Nina Bruce's comments have always implied that she has always wanted to see her son settle down. Bruce was more than excited when she confirmed the surprise engagement between Clooney and his now wife, Amal Alamuddin. She told Mail Online, “We weren’t at all surprised when they told us they were engaged, and we couldn't be happier for them”.

9 Ryan Gosling

Gosling’s closeness with his mother, Donna Gosling, can be explained a lot by his childhood. At the age of thirteen, Ryan’s parents divorced and he went to live with his mother and older sister. Being at school was difficult for him, he was known to misbehave and could not read. Gosling was eventually diagnosed with attention hyper deficit disorder and would be prescribed medication for it. Because of this, his mother left her job and decided to homeschool him for a year. He gradually found his love for performing which he flourished in. It comes as no surprise why Gosling is so close to his mother.

In early 2013, Ryan Gosling and his mother were spotted together at the premiere for his movie Gangsta Squad. It was clear just how close the three had now become when she told E! News, I'm wearing Eva Mendes. She let me raid her closet.” Mendes has clearly got the all important thumbs up from Donna. A source was said to have told US Weekly, “Donna and Eva get along really, really well…Donna wants Ryan to settle down and Eva is all about getting him on that train too, so they're both on the same page”.

8 Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio is incredibly close with his mother Irmelin Indenbirken. An only child, the actor’s parents divorced when he was just a year old. He would go on to spend most of his time with his mother who would work several jobs to support them.

In the public eye, Leonardo is often seen with his mother. He, like a few other actors, took his mother to the Golden Globe Awards last year. Like many mothers, Irmelin seems to have plenty of involvement in Leo’s love life. Sources stated that Indenbirken was not too happy with DiCaprio dating Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, and really did not approve of her too much. Reports have also stated that Irmelin would really like her son to settle down. Recently she was pictured having lunch with Leo, and his girlfriend Toni Garrn, a Victoria’s Secret model. The couple also went on a double date last year on Valentine's Day, when Leo and Toni later joined his mother and her date. DiCaprio has also not been shy to intervene in his mother’s love life. He has been rumored to be trying to set up Irmelin on blind dates.

7 Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette raised Justin as a single parent with the help of her own mother and stepfather. For Pattie, it cannot have been easy in low-income housing and working a series of low paying office jobs. But Mallette can be seen as the reason for Justin Beiber’s success, fostering his talent. Pattie encouraged a young Justin to enter a local singing competition, singing Ne-Yo’s “So Sick”, and also posted up videos of him singing on YouTube. This would be what would help Justin to be discovered by his now manager, Scooter Braun. Pattie later moved a thirteen-year-old Justin to Atlanta to work with Braun and Usher.

Whilst she doesn't manage Justin, Pattie is very much involved in his life, and takes a very active role. This has very much been the case with his stint of bad behavior. After his run-ins with the law in 2013, Pattie Mallette appeared on Watch What Happens Live and said, “I'm not naive to think that my child is perfect and making all the best decisions of his life…He knows what I disagree with and he knows all the things that I'm really proud of him for, too”. Over social media, Bieber is often seen showing love to his mother. Mallete is also not shy of defending her son on Twitter.

6 Justin Timberlake

Justin’s mother, Lynn Harless, has been there for him since his Mickey Mouse Club days. Growing up, Timberlake’s parents divorced when he was two. Lynn then went on to marry Paul Harless, who helped raise Justin.

Lynn has always been Justin’s co-manager. She was the person behind the group’s name N'Sync. In an article in Rolling Stone magazine in 2003, Justin commented on his love for his Mom, “We have a very special relationship...She's been my best friend since I figured out who I wanted to be. She's great, and such a fun woman. She goes out with me and stays out later than I do. She's always been there beside me, and I think that's part of my problem with girls. You keep searching for somebody as good as your mother, and that's a losing battle”. Justin spends a lot of time with his mother, he even has her initials tattooed on his back.

5 Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson absolutely loves his Mom Ata Johnson. The star may have an incredibly hectic schedule, but when The Rock is in action in the ring, you will often notice his mother ringside, supporting her boy, such as in this year’s WWE WrestleMania.

Johnson comes from a family with a lot of heritage, which is deeply ingrained in wrestling. He is known to be inseparable from his mother. During his childhood, he and his mother struggled, and were evicted from their home when he was fourteen. Dwayne told THR last year, "We were living in an efficiency that cost $120 a week. We come home, and there's a padlock on the door and an eviction notice. My mom starts bawling. She just started crying and breaking down. 'Where are we going to live? What are we going to do?'"

Together Ata and Dwayne Johnson have been through some tough times. Last August, Dwayne revealed that his mother and cousin were in a horrific car accident. Luckily Ata survived this. But Johnson’s mother is no doubt a survivor, also beating stage 3 lung cancer in 2003.

4 Vinny Guadagnino

As Vinny Guadagnino's career has gone from strength to strength after his success in MTV's Jersey Shore, it has become quite apparent just how much of a Momma’s boy he is. It was clear just how much Paola Giaimo took care of her son. From Sicily, she was known to come into the Jersey Shore residence cooking up huge meals for Vinny and his friends. You also may remember the loving support she gave to him when he returned home as a result of his panic attacks.

Vinny’s show The Show With Vinny, also helped to elevate Paula’s celebrity status and proved just how close the two are. In 2013, Vinny told PEOPLE magazine how she helps him with his relationship problems, “If I'm really upset, she tells me there's a reason why the relationship didn't work, she will comfort me and will tell me the usual stuff you need to hear when going through a breakup. But when I hear it from my mom, it always means more. And it's great that she will cook me something to feel better!”

3 Bradley Cooper

Whilst some of the finest actors in Hollywood can be seen on the red carpets of awards shows with their significant others, time and time again, Bradley Cooper has often opted to take his mother, Gloria Campano. Cooper was pictured with his Mom on his arm at the Oscars this year, last year’s GQ awards and also the 2014 Golden Globe awards.

After a number of failed relationships, Cooper also admitted in 2013 that he lives with Campano. The Hangover actor explained that this was due to his father’s death in 2011, and how this had actually brought them closer together. Cooper told Details magazine, “'Let's face it: It's probably not easy for her, by the way, to be living with her son…'My family is very close, and my dad dying was brutal for all of us. It was a schism, and its aftershock has not stopped. And we need each other. So here we are." Cooper did also admit that the living situation can be hard at times but overall he said, "I wouldn't have it any other way".

2 Kanye West

Most people are aware of Kanye West’s strong relationship with his mother, Donda West, who tragically died in 2007 as a result of complications with cosmetic surgery. West frequently mentions her in interviews and was no doubt deeply affected by her death.

Donda, before Kanye’s success was a Professor of English at Clark Atlanta University. She would later retire from this position to become Yeezy’s manager. Donda West was an important part of his career, supporting him in all his efforts. When Kanye was a young teenager, he persuaded his mother to pay for studio time so he could record a song he was writing. Together they established the Kanye West Foundation in 2003 to help underprivileged children with music education in Chicago. After Donda passed away, Kanye West spoke about his struggle with grieving for his mother. In a press conference in New Zealand, he said, “It was like losing an arm and a leg and trying to walk through that." He went on to rename The Kanye West Foundation, The Dr Donda West Foundation. Kanye also later established a creative agency called Donda.

1 Drake

If there is one rapper that isn't afraid to show how important his Mom is to him, it is definitely Drake. If you are Drake fan, you will know from his music just how special Sandi Graham is to him.

Together, Drake and Sandi have been through a lot. Growing up, Drizzy's parents divorced at the age of five. His mother struggled with finding somewhere to live, residing in the bottom half of a house. Graham was also quite ill throughout Drake’s youth. The star used his role in Degrassi to help pay their way, even though it did not amount to much. For Drake, the divorce of his parents was difficult for him, and changed the way he grew up. He told ABC News, “I had to become a man very quickly and be the backbone for a woman who I love with all my heart, my mother”.

Generally, Sandi’s illness is a mystery to much of the world, but it means that Drake keeps her close by. In 2010, he told MTV, “My mom is sick. So that scares me a lot. She's been the most supportive person I've ever had in my life - the only person that loves me unconditionally, really. I know a lot of people love me and I love a lot of people. But to love somebody unconditionally is different." Today, Drake and his mother are frequently pictured together and one listen of his music lets us know that she is very much the most important lady in his life.
