Kanye proposed to Kim at the AT&T Park baseball stadium in San Francisco on October 21 with an engagement ring worth $1.6 million. Forevermark Diamond expert Adelaide Polk-Bauman said the ring would set West back $7 million to $8 million.
It was said that Kanye personally designed the engagement ring worth $1.6 million and weighs 15-carat from Lorraine Shwartz, Kim’s favorite jewelry designer who was also present at the event.
The ring fell short to what Kris Humphries, Kim’s ex-husband gave the socialite which is a 20-karat 1.8 carat side diamonds worth $2 million during their engagement in 2011. Recently, it was reported that Kris auctioned off their engagement ring for $749,000.
The event was not as ostentatious as what others expected it to be. The rapper proposed to his fiancée on her 33rd birthday with the accompaniment of a 50-piece orchestra. A sign on the field’s gigantic screen that flashed and read "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!" After Kim said “yes,” fireworks and Roman candles lit up the sky, setting a romantic mood.
The couple’s 4-month-old daughter North West was a no show at the special occasion due to the Northern California chill. The Kardashian clan was present to show their support, Kardashian mom Kris Jenner, as well as Kim’s sisters Kourtney, Khloe, Kylie and Kendall.
After engagement, Kim tweeted a photo of her with the ring captioned 'YES!'
Kim’s upcoming marriage to Kanye is her third, while it’s the first for Kanye. The Kardashian socialite married music producer Damon Thomas in 2000 but divorced in 2004. In 2011, she married NBA player Kris Humphries, with their marriage lasting for only 72 days.
Kanye and Kim have been friends for seven years and went public with their relationship in April 2012. In June 15 this year, the couple welcomed their first baby North West.
