10 She Was Born in Israel

via wellknowncelebrities.com

Born in Rash Ha’ayin Israel of immigrant parents from Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Austria, Gadot grew up in a Jewish household. She’s very connected to her identity and heritage and is proud to talk about her home country and religion and wants everyone to have a good impression of Israel. Her first name Gal means “wave” and her last name Gadot means “riverbank”.

Mandatory in Israel, Gadot served two years as a soldier and sports trainer in the Israel Defense Forces. She was featured in a Maxim photo shoot for women of the Israeli Army. It was her photo that landed on the cover of the New York Post. Her military experience surely helped Gadot score some kick ass roles, as well as allowing her to attain the sexy, fit physique she has.

8 She Was Miss Israel

via thesun.co.uk

After high school, Gadot competed and won the title of Miss Israel, which led her to Ecuador to complete in Miss Universe. Though she did not win, she went on to complete her time in the military. Proving that every loss is indeed a gain, we’re sure Gadot isn’t crying about this. It's hard to tell if it was the army or competing against a bunch of women for a crown that helped prepare her to become a female action star. Thankfully Donald Trump didn’t try to marry her.

7 She Is No Stranger to Blockbuster Films

Though she will now always be recognized as this generation's Wonder Woman, fans of the Fast & Furious films will immediately recognize her as Gisele Harabo. Gadot appeared in the 4th, 5th and 6th installment of the franchise and quickly became a fan favorite. Gisele was no damsel in distress! She held her own and stole the spotlight from her heavy hitter (and predominantly male) costars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. She also appeared as Mark Wahlberg’s companion in the movie Date Night and had a small role in Knight and Day starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.

6 She’s a Model

With her 5’10 frame, it’s no surprise that Gadot has done her fair share of modeling. She was the face the clothing company Castro and will be the spokeswoman for Gucci’s latest scent. Proving that she’s multi talented and can easily make the transition from model to actress, Gadot’s acting career will definitely go better than other model turned actresses.

5 She Was Almost a Bond Girl

Gadot's first audition was to play a Bond girl Camille Montes in Quantum of Solace. Very close to securing the role, she lost the part to Olga Kurylenko who would later, in a weird twist of fate, lose the part of Wonder Woman to Gadot. Losing this role led her to play Gisele in the Fast & Furious franchise which jump-started her career. Though she could’ve probably pulled off being a Bond girl, Gadot was better off as Gisele in order to avoid typecasting. Plus, Gisele was just so badass!

4 She Had No Idea She Was Auditioning For Wonder Woman

via batman-news.com

While actresses far and wide were jumping at the chance to try out for this iconic role, Gadot actually had no idea that she was reading for Wonder Woman! The hunt for Wonder Woman was so confidential, Gadot was simply told that she’d be reading a scene with director Zack Snyder which was followed by a screen test with Ben Affleck. After a few weeks of anticipation, Gadot was on a plane when she received the good news that she got the role of a lifetime!

3 She Was Told She Was Too Small For The Part of Wonder Woman

In the film business, nothing ever seems enough. People will always be out to criticize and unfortunately, Gadot could not escape this. While many criticized the casting choices of Ben Affleck as Batman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, many thought that Gadot was too skinny for the part and found herself being body shamed online. Wonder Woman is often viewed as a voluptuous vixen and casting a fit and statuesque model caused another outrage in the casting drama for Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Thankfully Snyder saw Gadot as a strong, beautiful woman and is sticking by his decision.

2 She Originally Planned To Be A Lawyer

via fromthegrapevine.com

Never in her wildest dreams did she think that she would be an actress; Gadot’s original plan was to be a lawyer. She studied law after the army; it was during this time that she got an audition for Quantum of Solace. And the rest as they say is history! With beauty and brains, Gadot really is a wonder of her own. We think she's much better suited in the battlefield alongside iconic superheroes than in the courtroom.

1 She’s Married With A Child

via gal-gadot.org

Sorry guys, but Wonder Woman is spoken for! The superheroes in her life are her husband, real estate developer Yaron Varsano and their daughter Alma. Together since 2008, they pair owned and operated a hotel in Tel Aviv called the Versano Urban Oasis. A proud spouse and supportive of his wife’s career, Gadot calls him “an amazing husband, very much woman friendly”. She really is a superhero onscreen and at home!
