The Real Housewives franchise is getting more popular with each city that the Bravo network adds. And with the popularity of the show comes the popularity of the cast. From New York City to Orange County, California, the housewives live the lavish and ultra-wealthy lifestyle. They shop, they buy, they dine at expensive restaurants, and charter private jets to exclusive destinations. But these women are a whole lot more than just wives. They are powerful women with an eye for bling and a knack for finding drama. One minute they're friends and the next minute they're flipping tables. And while they are fighting, they're making a whole lot of money with every season that goes by. With all the perks of the show, it's no wonder that these ladies are bound and determined to keep their spot as a cast member. But when ratings drop someone is bound to be fired. These are 10 of the Real Housewives that were fired.
10 Alex McCord
9 Carlton Gebbia
8 Cindy Barshop
7 Cristy Rice
Best known as the ex-wife of NBA superstar Glen Rice, Cristy Rice’s stay on the Real Housewives of Miami was very brief. Even during her season one stint, Cristy’s storyline was limited, as was her time on camera. She was seen crashing the Black Gala with friends and lounging at the beach. Fans quickly tired of her spoiled ways and expressed their views through social media. This of course led to producers of the show to remove Rice from the Miami housewives cast.
6 Jacqueline Lauraita
One of the original members of the Real Housewives of New Jersey cast, Jacqueline Lauraita has been through a multitude of arguments, scandals, and family drama. But she has also struggled through the rough road of raising children and living in an Italian family. While fans of the Real Housewives of New Jersey enjoyed Jacqueline’s witty sense of humor and calm demeanor, the mother of three and wife of Chris Manzo reached the end of her time as a real housewife. Now, Jacqueline spends her time fighting for her son who was diagnosed with autism and helping other families as an advocate in the autism community. She is a contributing editor for the Autism Journey in Parenting Magazine and owner of a beauty Medspa in Oakland, N.J. called, “Altruistic Beauty Medspa.”
5 Jill Zarin
Another Real Housewife of New York City who was present from the start of the show is Jill Zarin. Initially Jill was adored for her frank nature and know-it-all attitude. But after a few seasons the fans of the reality show found Zarin to be self-absorbed and a mean girl, especially when she began a feud with then cast mate Bethenny Frankel. When season four ended Jill was told by executives at Bravo that “…they needed to change the cast.” Zarin doesn’t believe the fans agreed with the executive’s decision. She also maintains that she planned to quit even before she was let go. Of all the women to be removed from the Real Housewives of New York City cast, Zarin has been the most vocal about her firing.
4 Joyce Giraud de Ohoven
The former Miss World Puerto Rico and second runner-up Miss Universe 1998, Joyce Giraud de Ohoven is a charming Latina beauty with a passion for education and social work (she has two bachelor’s degrees: one in special education and one in social work). The Puerto Rican born philanthropist is the wife to Academy Award-nominated producer Michael Ohoven with whom she has two sons. But all her charm and charisma couldn’t make the ladies of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills accept her. From the beginning of season four, Brandi Glanville made it a point to publicly call Ohoven a multitude of names as well as make fun of her. At first viewers felt bad for Joyce, but in the end, her ratings on the show didn’t reflect well and she was not asked back for season five.
3 Larsa Pippen
When the Real Housewives of Miami first hit Bravo, the ratings soared. But only a few episodes into the first season, fans were bored with several cast mates, including Larsa Pippen. The wife of NBA star Scottie Pippen, Larsa’s entire storyline seemed to revolve around her obscene amounts of money and berating of her babysitters. When Bravo executives got wind of the fan’s distaste for Larsa Pippen, they immediately fired her and didn’t ask her back for season two.
2 Sheree Whitfield
The first season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, brought a completely different cast to the Real Housewives empire. One member, Sheree Whitfield, was known for her super athletic body and her fiery attitude. During her four seasons with the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Sheree dreamed of being a fashion designer and strived for a wealthy lifestyle. But in the end, her story fell flat and viewers saw right through her act. With her supposed Chateau under construction, her clothing line that never launched, and her on again off again relationship with NeNe Leakes, Sheree couldn’t find her spot on the show. Eventually she was cut from the show and not invited back to film the fifth season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
1 Kelly Killoren Bensimon
In a round of firings from the Real Housewives of New York City, Kelly Bensimone was among three of the ladies to get the boot. Following the season four reunion, Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen took to social media outlets and examined the feedback from fans. The outcome was not good. There were a lot of negative feelings toward Bensimon among Bravo fans. Not shocking considering Bensimone’s public “breakthrough,” in which she had an emotional meltdown while on vacation with the ladies of New York City and is possibly her most remembered moment during her three seasons on the Real Housewives of New York City. It was also during this season that she began Tweeting strange rants and accusing cast mate Bethenny Frankel of targeting her in the media. According to Bravo, the displeasure of fans was the ultimate reason for removing Kelly Bensimon from the Real Housewives of New York City. Bensimone wasn’t surprised. In an interview she said, “I was kind of expecting it. By season four I didn’t want to play the game but Bravo was amazing.” To keep herself busy, Bensimon is promoting her book entitled, I Can Make You Hot.
