Apparently, the Fast and Furious franchise proves that there is still gas in the tank for the sixth installment. These movies, starting from the very first up to the present, have earned millions of dollars on their opening weeks and seem to never miss being on the charts. However, don’t give all the credit to the fine acting, plot depth or the profound script. The fast and furious cars have been and will always be part of the reason why the movies have been such a success.
So, here are the top 10 most favorite cars from the Fast and Furious franchise.
10 Toyota Supra
This Toyota Supra started out as a car thrown in the junkyard but ended up as a quarter-mile superstar in the first Fast and Furious movie. The Supra appeared to be beaten up as it was placed on a flatbed truck but was transformed to be a “10-second car”, as how the character in the movie described it. In reality, the Toyota Supra is actually a grand tourer or a sports car which is a wider and longer version of the Toyota Celica. All four versions of the Supra have an inline 6-cylinder engine. As an iconic sports car, it is not a shock that this car appeared in various movies, video games and music videos.
9 Dodge Charger (1970)
It seems quite a little impossible not to think about the Dodge Charger when talking about the Supra, which have both appeared in the first Fast and Furious movie. This car went head to head with the Supra in an epic quarter-mile race. This car may be vintage but it makes a number of appearances throughout the movie franchise. The 1970 model of Dodge Charger was based on the Dodge Dart but with a higher compression 318 V8 engine.
8 Nissan Skyline GT -R R34
The second movie franchise, 2 Fast 2 Furious, featured Brian in Miami after doing some running away from California. In order to survive and earn money, he ended up racing and he chose to maintain the Nissan Skyline GT -R R34, which appeared in a number of scenes, and even in the bridge jump race. The R34 has a 5.8 LCD multi-function display on the center of its dashboard. The LCD display shows at least seven different live readings of the engine and the statistics of the vehicle itself, water and oil temperatures as well as the turbocharger pressure. It also has a lap timer, G-force meter and an increase in the pressure measurement to two bars.
7 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (1971)
In the movie The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, the producers made sure that they would have the best opening car. That is why they chose the Monte Carlo as one of the cars in the movie opening where the drivers are battling in order to earn a date for their upcoming prom. The 1971 model of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo has European symbol knobs as well as a four-spoke steering wheel. It has a stand up hood ornament and a 454 engine.
6 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
After the character Sean loses in his first ever drift battle against whom they call the Drift King, his friend Han gave him his new Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. He uses this car to hone his skills in drifting and eventually was able to win quite a number of competitions. The Evo is a high performance sports car that is based on the Lancer. This car uses all-wheel drive systems and two liter, turbocharged engines.
5 Honda S2000
It was definitely a very girly car in the movie, being pretty and pink, but this S2000 made the scene very much unforgettable. The movie 2 Fast 2 Furious featured the Honda S2000 as Suki’s car, packed with serious hardware under the car’s hood. It had a Paxton supercharger kin that boost the power up to 360 hp, surprising Suki as the car jumped in the bridge race scene of the movie. The S2000 is a roadster and gets its name from its engine displacement of two liters. It is known for having the highest horsepower per liter compared to any piston road production cars.
4 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
In the fourth movie, the car appeared when Brian found a Subaru impreza WRX STI in a police impound lot. This car served as the perfect car for Brian’s dream of joining intense car chases through the off-road terrain on the U.S. and the Mexican border. The WRX STI has a 2.0 liter EJ207 engine as well as a twin scroll turbocharger that generates 227 kW.
3 Acura NSX-T
The Acura NSX-T ranks third on the list because perhaps it is the sexiest car to appear in the movie. Mia, Dominic’s sister, drives the NSX together with beautiful wheels, suspension and a body kit. This car has a 3.2 liter engine and a removable roof. It also has a smaller-diameter front sway bars as well as softer dampers in order to improve the ride comfort and the tire wear. This, in return, reduces the sudden-oversteer problems that endangers most mid-engined vehicles.
2 Chevrolet Chevelle (1970)
General Motors was showcased quite a lot of times in the movie Fast and Furious where the Chevrolet Chevelle starred. The car had no difficulties doing wheelstands. The Chevelle was actually a mid-sized automobile that is known to be one of Chevrolet’s most successful nameplates. Its body style involves sedans, coupes, convertibles, and station wagons. The regular Chevelle engines began with 140 horsepower but eventually ended up with a 325 horsepower engine. It has shoulder belts for outboard front seat occupants.
1 Ford GT40
The fifth movie, the Fast Five, featured a scene where Dominic and his crew were tasked to rob three classic cars from a moving train. The whole crew blew a hole through the side of the train and transferred the cars onto a moving truck. One of the stolen cars is the Ford GT40. The Ford GT40 is a high performance racing car which has won a number of awards. It has one supercharger compressor, multi point injection fuel system and large engines, allowing up to seven liters of gasoline to be saved in its tank. The GT40 was originally produced to win long-distance sports car races against Ferrari and it did what it was supposed to do: WIN.
