Game of Thrones is known for two things: violence and steamy explicit scenes. While the violent scenes may stay with you long after they are done, that is not always the most pleasant experience. Does anyone really want to close their eyes to go to bed and envision Ned Stark’s head being chopped off? Also, RIP Ned! The North Remembers!
While the violent scenes may make your skin crawl and may not be something you want to remember, the explicit love-making scenes can be pretty hot. Guys, Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive is one of the stars on the show. It’s safe to say that men want to remember every single scene Emilia Clarke is in… and bonus points for the female viewers if she’s in the scene with Jason Momoa. In all seriousness, was there anything hotter than Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen getting intimate?
Game of Thrones also offers a variety of the type of intimacy it shows. It shows two-ways, three-ways, four-ways… It shows action in just about any numerical way. Also, they show guy on guy and girl on girl. Game of Thrones is willing to feature just about any version they can dream up.
All this aside, some of these scenes are memorable for what they meant to the show. Some featured a major reveal (like who would have thought twins would be getting it on with each other?) while other scenes resulted in shadow demons. For whatever reason it may be, these twelve scenes from Game of Thrones are simply unforgettable.
12 Cersei Lannister and Jaime Lannister (Season 1, Episode 1)
This scene is unforgettable not really for featuring steamy action, but rather for who is participating. In this scene, Bran Stark climbs up on a high tower to find Cersei Lannister and Jaime Lannister, twin brother and sister, getting freaky. There is no nudity or especially memorable action during their encounter other than the fact that they are friggin’ brother and sister. Oh, yeah and she’s married to the King so this would probably be considered some form of treason.
Jamie pushes Bran off the tower, leaving him handicapped, and declares, “The things I do for love.” Gross, Jaime. You're totally hot enough to find a woman other than your twin sissy to bang.
11 Daenerys Targaryen and Drogo (Season 1, Episode 2)
At this point, we’ve seen Daenerys married off to Drogo, who then abuses her quite a few times, like basically every night.
In the course of this episode, Dany asks one of her servants, who used to be a "professional", how to please a man. In a scene that is very hot in its own way, the servant shows Dany just how to please Drogo.
Later, Drogo enters their bedroom and attempts to flip her over (Drogo was really into doggie style) but Dany refuses and tells him that she wants to see his face. She gets on top of him for a seriously hot scene, both for the action and for the fact that Dany is taking control like the true queen she is.
10 Petyr Baelish Teaching Two Pros (Season 1, Episode 7)
Basically every single scene in Littlefinger’s brothel is raunchy in some way. It's a brothel, after all. However, one scene in particular does stand out.
After Ros, the red head from Winterfell, arrives at King’s Landing, she begins working for Littlefinger. When Littlefinger walks in on Ros practicing with another of his girls, he explains that their theatrics are tacky and they must make the men believe. Following instruction from him, the two engage in a very graphic scene practicing on each other. I’m talking really graphic.
9 Tyrion Lannister and Shae (Season 1, Episode 9)
When Shae first meets Tyrion, she asks why she is there and in Tyrion-like manner, he doesn’t just give an answer but steals the scene with some clever, intelligent dialogue. He tells Shae that she’s there to share his tent, pour him wine, rub his legs, you know normal stuff that I guess women did for their men back then. He finally adds, “I want you to f*** me like it’s my last night in this world, which it may well be.” Shae asks what she will get in return and after Tyrion lists of the perks of being his, Shae drops her robe and presumably f**** him like it's his last night in this world.
8 Melisandre and Stannis (Season 2, Episode 2)
Fans remember this scene because Melisandre strips right down to reveal she has a super hot body. She offers herself to Stannis, who tries to put her off by saying he has a wife. Melisandre entices Stannis by promising him a son, something his wife hasn’t been able to give him. Stannis goes on to have sex with Melisandre right there on the table.
While this scene alone might not be a huge standout (even though Melisandre’s body is amazing), the thing that happens next is something to remember. Melisandre does get pregnant but with a shadow demon rather than a boy. Fans get to see her give birth to this shadow demon and it's pretty gross.
7 Margaery Tyrell and Renly Baratheon (Season 2, Episode 3)
This scene is actually all about the absence of intimacy. First Margaery drops her dress and presents herself to her husband, Renly Baratheon. Her dropping her dress with such abandon was quite a shock, as we had yet to see her naked. Also, she’s totally smoking under that dress.
She goes on to try to seduce him to no avail and finally outs him by asking if Renly would like her brother (who is also his lover) to come in and help. She finally tells him that they can do it however he would like – with just her, with just with her brother, or with her and her brother. Like, she literally offers to do it with her husband and her brother.
It’s totally weird but it’s when we first see just how far Margaery Tyrell is willing to go to be queen. It also totally helps us understand Tommen’s affection for Margaery once they are married because the girl is willing to do whatever it takes to make her man happy.
6 Robb Stark and Talisa (Season 2, Episode 8)
There are very, very few times in which Game of Thrones is actually romantic and this scene is one of them. As Robb and Talisa talk, she reveals a sad story from her childhood. While listening, Robb is obviously thinking that she’s super hot because when she concludes her story, he tells Talisa that he doesn’t want to marry the Frey girl to whom he has been promised, implying that he wants to marry Talisa. One thing leads to another and soon, the pair wind up getting it on right there on the floor.
This all ends very well for the two of them during The Red Wedding.
5 Podrick And The Girls (Season 3, Episode 3)
While there are quite a few mysteries surrounding Game of Thrones, like for example who Jon Snow’s mother is, it seems the biggest question may be what the hell Podrick did to those girls.
As a gift for saving his life, Tyrion brings Podrick to the brothel and buys him not one, not two but three women to take his virginity. While this scene concludes without actually seeing them do anything, what happens after is one of the biggest mysteries of Game of Thrones. Podrick returns to Tyrion with the payment for the girls, stating that while he did in fact have sex with them, they refused to take the money from Podrick. They apparently enjoyed the experience so much that they didn't feel they needed to be paid. What did Podrick do to those women?! Will we ever know? I’m honestly more interested in this than who will win the Iron Throne.
4 Jon Snow and Ygritte (Season 3, Episode 5)
Guys, Jon Snow does know some things...
Since joining the Night’s Watch, Jon had been sworn by his oath to remain celibate. While he did take this oath very seriously, he apparently couldn’t deny the very serious feelings (err, hormones) he felt toward Ygritte, the red headed Wildling. Ygritte proposes the deed as a way for him to prove he’s no longer with The Watch, but really she probably just wanted him because, come on, it’s Jon Snow.
When Jon and Ygritte end up in a cave together, things get very steamy with some foreplay (“That thing you did with your mouth,” as Ygritte calls it). When Ygritte dies in Jon Snow’s arms later in the series, she tells him that they should have never left the cave, which is true because I would totally watch six or seven seasons just of Jon Snow and Ygritte chillin’ in that cave.
3 The Dornish Encounter (Season 4, Episode 3)
Oh, Oberyn Martell, why did you have to die so soon? Seriously, he was one of the most likable characters in Game of Thrones but, like many other likable characters, he met an early end.
Before his death though, we got to see that not only was Oberyn well liked but he was the kind of guy who, well, liked everyone right back. Men, women, it didn’t matter. Oberyn appreciated the beauty in everyone and liked to make love to everyone. In this particular scene, Oberyn and his partner, Ellaria Sand, make love to another man and woman together.
2 Cersei Lannister and Jaime Lannister (Season 4, Episode 3)
You would think that these two getting intimate would be particularly memorable just because they are twin siblings, but this encounter had another element added to the mix.
The pair were mourning the death of their son Joffery, who was poisoned in front of both of them, when Jaime makes his move on Cersei… and by “his move” I mean he forcefully takes Cersei. Yep, while their dead son is chillin’ in the room with those creepy rocks on his eyes, Jamie precedes to force himself on his twin sister Cersei, who cannot really scream for help or else she would be proving all the rumors to be correct. Not a great day to be Cersei Lannister.
1 Sansa Stark and Ramsay Bolton (Season 5, Episode 6)
When Sansa married the sadistic Ramsay, the audience must have known that it wasn’t going to end well, right? By this point, fans had already seen him cut off Theon Greyjoy’s manhood, flay several people, and unleash his dogs to literally tear a woman apart limb from limb.
On their wedding night, Ramsay not only forces himself on Sansa but he does so while forcing Theon (Reek, or whatever he goes by) to watch. Poor Sansa was previously betrothed to Joffery (the originally Ramsay) then forced to marry Tyrion against her will. Girl can’t catch a break in the love department.
