Taylor Swift Kanye West

A very memorable moment from the MTV Video Music Awards is when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech back in 2009. Taylor had won the award for "Best Female Video"and began to thank her fans when Kanye stepped in, asked for the microphone and stated that Beyonce's video "Single Ladies" was the best video of the year. Taylor had won for her video "You Belong With Me".

After the interruption, Kanye handed the microphone back to Taylor with no remorse for his comment. In a moment of shock and no preparation for such a comment, the country music star gracefully accepted the award and exited the stage. Later on during the show Beyonce gave her acceptance speech to Taylor by bringing her on stage to properly thank those whom she had wanted to.

In interviews after the award show Taylor stated "I was standing onstage, and I was really excited because I'd just won the award, and then I was really excited because Kanye West was onstage," she told People magazine. "And then I wasn't excited anymore after that."

Taylor later poked fun at the moment while hosting SNL. Showcasing her versatility and ability to remain in good spirits, despite the award show that she will most likely never forget.
