After the successful attempt to fundraise money to revive the much beloved show, Veronica Mars into a movie, another cancelled show, Pushing Daisies, may go the same route. After raising more than $3 million dollars, the Veronica Mars Kickstarter campaign turned some heads and made others want to go down the same road they did.
Rob Thomas creator of Veronica Mars received an email from Pushing Daisies creator, Bryan Fuller telling Thomas, "Hey, can you jump on the phone with me at some point? I know you're busy, but I would love to talk to you about how this thing works". Thomas indicated that he knew that Fuller was referring to his show Pushing Daisies. If Pushing Daisies is as successful as Veronica Mars, we may see others raise money through Kickstarter.
If they are successful in incorporating the fans and raising money through Kickstarter, we may see a trend of low budget films make their way to Kickstarter and to the big screen. This domino affect can lead to a lot of aspiring film directors and producers into making their films a reality. Since they would be funded by the fans, they would have more freedom when it comes to its film's production since no major film studio would be involved in its production.
