Lea Michele Dedicates Award to the Late Cory Monteith

Lea Michele was emotional as she dedicated her Teens Choice Award to late boyfriend and Glee co-star Cory Monteith.

Donning a pink dress and a necklace that said “Cory,” her attendance at the awards was her first public appearance since the death of Monteith in July due to drug overdose.

Lea was recognized for her portrayal of Rachel Berry on Glee. In her acceptance speech, Lea said, "For all of you out there who loved and admired Cory as much as I did, I promise that with your love we're gonna get through this together. He was very special to me and also to the world.”

She continued praising Cory for his good values, “We were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart.”

At the end of her speech, she was near tears, “So whether you know him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of our hearts."

As she spoke, a photo of the 31-year-old actor was being flashed on a screen. Monteith had co-hosted the Teen Choice Awards in 2010. Their other fellow Glee cast also took the chance to remember Cory at the show. His death will be addressed in Season 5 of Glee which will premiere on September 26.
