Is Aaron Eckhart a Mormon, or is this just a myth that is floating around Mormon Culture?
Aaron Eckhart was raised as a Mormon, and served an LDS mission in France. Aaron Eckhart also attended Brigham Young University, A private christian school for Mormons.
Being in Hollywood, you would think that there would be some cultural differences from the way he was raised as a devout and conservative Mormon. When asked in an interview Aaron had this to say.
"I'm certainly not a deacon, I'm not a priest. I'm sure people think I'm a Mormon, but I don't know that I'm a Mormon anymore, you know? To be honest, to be perfectly clear, I'd be a hypocrite if I did say that I was, just because I haven't lived that lifestyle for so many years."
Growing up as a Mormon myself, I know how easy it can be to just stop caring about that kind of stuff. I think it is cool that Aaron Eckhart has such a graceful way of approaching the questions about his religion. So many ex-Mormons make such a big deal about defending their non beliefs, but Aaron quite frankly doesn't seem to care that much.
So there you have it, Aaron Eckhart used to be a Mormon, but he isn't anymore. I think that it is cool that Aaron is happy about the life he is living now. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. Mormons love having celebrities that are members of their church, but I guess they are going to have to pass on this one.
