Ellen DeGeneres and Wife Portia de Rossi Buy $26.5 Million Montecito Mansion

Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi are known for buying and disposing houses easily.

The 55-year-old talk show host and 40-year-old actress recently purchased a $26.5 million Montecito mansion as a vacation house. The 10, 522 square foot property is strategically located outside of Santa Barbara, California overlooking the Pacific and neighbors to famous celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Tipper Gore and Carol Burnett.

Named the Saladino Villa, it was built in 1928 but was renovated with international features by architect Wallace Frost. It features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, nine fireplaces and beautiful indoor and outdoor sceneries.

This is the newest addition to the couple’s numerous properties in Southern California. They owned a $47 million Beverly Hills mansion with nine bedrooms but sold it to American Idol host Ryan Seacrest for $37 million in 2011.

Their Beverly Hills penthouse is now in the market for sale for $899,000. The couple bought it in 2010 for $835,000. It boasts of two bedrooms, doorman, gym, valet parking and sauna.

Adding to that is their ranch compound in Los Angeles. It houses a number of horses in support of Portia’s affinity for the animal.

In 2011, Ellen also purchased Brad Pitt’s former Malibu Home for $12 million but sold it last month for $13 million due to her wanting of another property.

The couple is also reported to have moved residences nine times in less than nine years.
