8 Love Connections Between T.V. Stars

We all know that on-screen couples can tug on our heart-strings – there is nothing like chemistry. But these romances rarely carry past the screens, no matter how much we might wish they would. But in the world of celebrities, there are a million matches being made and broken everyday. In fact, celebrity divorce is so common and so heavily reported on in the media that the public has almost become numb to it – or at least to expect it. But sometimes, love can last, even for celebrities. Their characters may not have anything in common but in real life, they just work. Here are 8 love connections between TV stars you may have never guessed would have found each other way across the studio lots.

8. Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart

Dane is most famous for his recent portrayal of Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy. Throughout his course on the show, he was nicknamed by the female characters as Dr. McSteamy, a play on his ruggedness in relation to Patrick Dempsey’s character. In 2012 however, after six years as a cast regular, Dane’s character was killed off. After a two year hiatus, McSteamy has returned to the small screen as Commander Tom Chandler on the new series Last Ship. Whether he is wooing female doctors, or standing tall as a Commander, Dane is going home to actress Rebecca Gayheart. While she might be best known for supporting roles in dark 90s movies such as, Jawbreaker and Scream 2, she has been known to dabble in the small screen as well. Rarely found in the main cast, Gayheart’s face is familiar from various TV roles including, Beverly Hills 90210, Dead Like Me and MediumThese days, she has been less active but when she does appear she is immediately recognized for her for often timid but (eventually) morally upright characters. The couple have been married since 2004 and have two daughters.

7. Jensen Ackles and Danneel Harris

Even with a history on Days of our Lives, Dark Angel, and Smallville, Jensen Ackles will probably forever be known as Dean Winchester on the popular TV series’, Supernatural. The show follows Dean and his younger brother Sam, as they hunt demons and save lives, you know, the usual. Although co-star Jared Paladecki and his wife Genvieve Paladecki co-starred for a while on the show, Ackles’s actress wife has never made an appearance. Instead, Daneel Harris has left the villain-fighting to him and taken up various roles on some of TV’s most popular shows. Starting out in soap operas as well, Harris’s longest television stint has been on One Life to Live (ending in 2003), but she has since become better known for her portrayal of Rachel on One Tree Hill. Nowadays she can be seen in a few less successful shows including, Friends With Benefits and the short-lived How to Live With Your Parents. The two married in 2010 and have one daughter.

6. Daniel Gillies and Rachel Leigh Cook

Simultaneously a Vampire and a Doctor, Daniel Gillies is quite busy these days taking up a ton of room on the small screen. Starring as the lead in both the CW’s The Originals, a Vampire Diaries spin-off, and in the Canadian supernatural drama, Saving Hope. It’s actually difficult to imagine Gillies having time for anything else. Yet, he seems to make time for one of the biggest teen movie stars of the 90s, Rachael Leigh Cook. These days, however, Cook is busy starring in her own TV show, Perception. Heading into season 3, this one follows Special Agent Moretti (Cook) and her sidekick Dr. Pierce (Eric McCormack), an eccentric neuro-psychiatrist recruited by the FBI to help solve difficult cases. So with Gillies cashing in on the Supernatural craze, and Cook on the Crime-Drama craze, the two have become quite the power couple. They married in 2004, while Gillies was still up and coming, and have one daughter born just last year.

5. Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof

Brought together by their respective duties to help the slayer, former Buffy stars Hannigan and Denisof found a happily ever after Joss Whedon could never really afford them on screen (always being hunted by demons and what not). Their work together on the show was brief, with Denisof only appearing in 9 episodes before moving onto a starring role in the spin-off, Angel. Since then, Hannigan has maintained a successful career in television starring as Lily Aldrin in How I Met Your Mother for its 9 season run, which only just ended. Meanwhile, aside from a ten episode stint as Robin’s boyfriend Sandy on How I Met Your Mother, Denisof has been keeping busy in many Whedon productions. He now has a recurring role on the TV show Grimm and the two have been married since 2003, have 2 daughters and are Godparents to Whedon’s son.

4. Dax Shepard and Kristin Bell

Shepard, one of the many stars of TV’s ongoing drama series Parenthood, is well known for his comedic sensibility. He originally garnered attention for his role (as himself) on Punk’d, the MTV celebrity prank show hosted by Ashton Kutcher. Now, in the role of a rock n’ roll loving black sheep trying to navigate family life for the first time, he transfers this fun-loving aspect of himself quite well, bringing some much needed light-heartedness to the show’s otherwise heavy subject matter. Back in 2007, however, he was making some minor appearances on various TV shows and began dating Kristen Bell who was just closing the book on her hugely successful TV show Veronica Mars. Additionally, she was juggling two other major roles on Gossip Girl (for which she was the narrator) and Heroes. Bell is currently starring in the TV series, House of Lies while also holding a recurring role on the comedy, Parks and Recreation. The two married in 2013, shortly after she gave birth to their daughter.

3. Emily Deschanel and David Hornsby

Deschanel is currently the star of the Crime-Dramedy, Bones alongside David Boreanz. Although she has been acting since the 1990s, this 9 year career as Dr. Temperance Brennan has certainly launched her to star status. She was cast when during her audition, Boreanz suddenly stepped into her while reading his lines and she stayed put. The casting directors were impressed with her in this moment and gave her the role of the brilliant, stubborn and never intimidated Forensic Anthropologist. Completely opposite is David Hornsby’s character on his TV comedy, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. His role as Cricket, a former priest turned homeless, constantly tormented by the main characters, is nothing like Bones. He is also an executive producer and writer on the show which is famous for its crude subject matter and raunchy humor. Recently though, Hornsby made an appearance on Bones as the minister to Deschanel’s character’s wedding. The two were hitched in 2010 and now have one son.

2. Chris Pratt and Anna Faris

Although they have not worked together on the small screen, they have shared the big screen in brief sequences with, What’s Your Number and Movie 43, shining light on their comedic chemistry. In fact, they met in 2007 on the set of the film Take Me Home Tonight (which was not released until 2011), a retro comedy written by the writers of That 70’s Show. Presently, Pratt brings life to the role of Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation, alongside other comedic delights such as Amy Poehler and Aziz Ansari. Meanwhile, movie star Anna Faris has transitioned to TV recently, when she took on the role of Christy in the new series Mom. They married in 2009 and have one son.

1. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher

Despite being one of the most famous on-screen couples for many years on That 70’s Show, Kunis and Kutcher did not find romance until many years later, while starring in separate series. Funny how things work out. When their show ended in 2006, Kunis was already a regular voice-actor for Family Guy, and although she has become more active in the film industry, she has continued in the role of Meg Griffin for the last fifteen years. Meanwhile, Kutcher allowed the end of the show to give him time to become a movie star, only settling into TV again in 2011 when he replaced Charlie Sheen as the male lead in Two and a Half Men. Despite the disconnection professionally, Kutcher and Kunis began dating in 2012 and have recently announced their engagement and pregnancy.
