20 Cast Members Of 24: Where Are They Now?

24 was a critically acclaimed political thriller series that aired from November 6, 2001 to July 14, 2014. The series revolved around Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent Jack Bauer, who sometimes went to extreme measures to prevent a terrorist attack. Jack often found himself having to defy orders and his own government in order to bring the bad guys to justice. Jack has made many friends along the way, which has aided him in his attempts to prevent a presidential assassination, cyber attacks and chemical warfare. He has also had to unravel corruption within his own government. The series is notable for its real-time narration and covers a 24-hour period in the day of Jack and the other characters.

Each episode is one hour out of the day. Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran created the series that aired on the Fox Network for 9 seasons and includes the television film, 24: Redemption. The series was critically acclaimed by critics and was a commercial success. 24 has won numerous awards including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006.

It was recently announced that a spinoff series called 24: Legacy, will be premiering in 2017 after the Superbowl. Similar to season 9 of 24, Legacy will consist of 12 episodes. The series will feature an all-new cast but includes several of 24’s hallmarks. The spinoff follows war hero Eric Carter, who returns from the war and is followed by some trouble. The new cast features Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto, Teddy Sears and Jimmy Smits.

With a brand new cast taking over, many are probably wondering about the former cast. Several members of the cast had some success prior to 24, while others had their big break because of the series. 20 Bill Buchanan – James Morrison

Bill Buchanan was once the head of CTU but was forced to step down. That didn’t keep him for helping Jack Bauer and others protect the US. He was married to Karen Hayes (Jayne Atkinson). Bill was calm and logical in tense situations. In many ways he was very different than Jack but often would side with Jack. Although, there were times when they were on opposite sides briefly. In the end, Bill sacrifices himself to help Jack and to protect the United States. James Morrison played Bill Buchanan from seasons 4 to 7. Prior to 24, Morrison appeared in several TV series, such as The X Files, The West Wing and Cold Case. In 1995, he starred in the short-lived science fiction series, Space: Above and Beyond on the Fox Network. Following 24, he continues to appear in various TV series, including Revenge, Suits and Castle. He is also an accomplished singer and has released two albums. He is also a poet and has published his poetry.

19 President James Heller – William Devane

James Heller was the President of the United States in season 9 of 24. He first appears in season 4 and holds the position of Secretary of Defense. He is the father of Audrey Raines. William Devane portrayed James Heller in seasons 4, 5, 6 and 9. Before 24, Devane was best known for his role as Greg Summer on the hit CBS series Knots Landing, from 1983 to 1993. Knots Landing was a spinoff of the enormously successful series, Dallas. Additionally, he had roles in Marathon Man, Space Cowboys and McCambe & Mrs. Miller. He also appeared on several TV series, such as Gunsmoke, The West Wing and The X-Files. He continues to have supporting roles in films, such as The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar. He also landed roles on several TV series, including Psych, Revenge and The Grinder. Additionally, he plays Dr. Dix in the television film series Jess Stone.

18 Curtis Manning – Roger Cross

Curtis Manning was a field agent at CTU. He was brave, loyal and fearless. Curtis and Jack were normally on the same page but things took a turn for the worse in season 6. Jack had given his word to protect a former terrorist, Assad, who was trying to change his ways. However, during Desert Storm Assad was responsible for the deaths of members of Curtis team. Jack was forced to kill Curtis when he attempted to do the same to Assad. This greatly affects Jack. Roger Cross played Curtis Manning from season 4 to 6. Prior to 24, Cross appeared in The X Files, The Outer Limits and First Wave. Since the end of 24, he has had prominent roles in Motive, The Strain and Orphan Black. He portrayed Sunset Boulevard (AKA Sonny Benson) on the hit series The L World. He also played the character, Travis Verta, in the science fiction series Continuum.

17 Omar Hassan – Anil Kapoor

Omar Hassan was the President of the Islamic Republic of Kamistan. He was attempting to sign a nuclear treaty with President Allison Taylor. However, Hassan had many enemies that were out to get him. Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor portrayed Omar Hassan to critical acclaim. Prior to 24, he had enormous success in Bollywood and appeared in several critically and commercially acclaimed films, such as Mr. India, Virasat, Taal and many more. He has won 9 Filmfare Awards for his incredible work in Bollywood. He transitioned to a career in North America with his role in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. He returned to Bollywood and continues to star in blockbuster films, such as Race 2, Shootout at Wadala and Dil Dhadakne Do. He continues to work in North America as well. In 2011, he had a role in Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol. In 2013, he starred in the Indian adaptation of 24. He played the role of Jai Singh Rathod, which was based on Jack Bauer.

16 Mike Novick – Jude Ciccolella

Mike Novick was the Chief of Staff for both President David Palmer and President Charles Logan. He appeared in seasons 1, 2, 4 and 5. He betrayed President Palmer who removed him as his Chief of Staff and was replaced by Wayne Palmer. Later, Mike would work under President Logan and was partially responsible for bringing Logan to justice. Jude Ciccolella played Mike Novick on 24. Before 24, Jude appeared in several memorable films, including Glengarry Glen Ross, The Shawshank Redemption and Boys on the Side. He also had guest roles on NYPD Blue, CSI: NY and ER. During 24, he had a supporting role in the film Sin City and briefly played the Principal on Everybody Hates Chris. Following his success on 24, he has appeared in several TV series, including Prison Break, House and Touch. He continues to land supporting roles in films, such as World Trade Center, Premonition and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

15 George Mason – Xander Berkeley

George Mason at one time was the director at CTU. He had a tense relationship with Jack Bauer who at one point even blackmailed George. However, in the end George helps Jack find his family. He is exposed to highly dangerous levels of plutonium and finds out he’ll die shortly. He pilots a plane containing a nuclear weapon into the Mojave Desert so it can safely detonate in the process sacrificing him. Xander Berkeley portrayed George Mason in the first two seasons. Prior to his role on 24, he had appeared in a number of films, such as A Few Good Men, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Heat and Air Force One. He also had a successful TV career and had roles in several shows, such as The Incredible Hulk, The A-Team and The X-Files. After 24, he has continued to appear in film and TV. He has had recurring and guest roles in several TV series, including The West Wing, Bones, Nikita, Justified and The Walking Dead. He’s had roles in several films, including Taken, North Country and Kick-Ass. He also starred in the webseries The Booth at the End. He is married to Sarah Clarke, who played Nina Myers on 24.

14 Aaron Pierce – Glenn Morshower

Aaron Pierce was a fiercely loyal and brave U.S. Secret Service Agent. He was tasked with protecting both President David Palmer and President Charles Logan. He later played an important role in bringing down the corrupt Charles Logan. Glenn Morshower played Aaron Pierce for the first 7 seasons. Glenn often appears in television and film in supporting roles. He appeared in numerous film including Star Trek Generations, Air Force One and Pearl Harbor. He also had roles in a number of TV series, such as The X-Files, CSI and The West Wing. Following 24, he appeared in several popular films, including Good Night, Good Luck, X-Men: First Class and the Transformers series. He continues to appear in TV series, including Friday Night Lights, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Supergirl. He finished in 6th place on an episode of World Poker Tour in 2008. He performs a series called The Extra Mile that combines comedy, drama, motivational speaking, acting lessons, story telling and life coaching.


13 Terri Bauer – Leslie Hope

Terri Bauer was the loving and caring wife of Jack Bauer and mother to Kim Bauer. Terri and Jack had been having problems in their marriage but were trying to work their problems out. When it came to Jack’s career, she was usually kept in the dark. Eventually, she finds herself as a target of Jack’s enemies. Leslie Hope played the role of Teri Bauer for only one season but appeared in all 24 episodes. Prior to 24, she had roles in several TV series, including Party of Five, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and The Outer Limits. She only starred in the one season but might have one of the most memorable and shocking deaths in the series. After 24, she has continued to have great success in both film and TV. She has a recurring role on the series NCIS, Tyrant and Suits. She currently plays the role of Joan Luss in the FX series The Strain.

12 Sherry Palmer – Penny Johnson Jerald

Sherry Palmer is the ex-wife of former President David Palmer. David and Sherry Palmer are married in the first season but divorce before the start of the second season. She becomes hell bent on sabotaging and discrediting David’s time as President. Later, President Palmer actually turns to Sherry for help, which backfires resulting in Palmer not seeking re-election and the death of Sherry Palmer. Penny Johnson Jerald played Sherry Palmer to rave reviews and is considered one of the series' best villains. Penny Johnson Jerald portrayed Sherry Palmer for the first three seasons. Prior to her time on 24, she appeared in several TV series, including Hill Street Blues, Coach and ER. She first rose to fame with her roles on The Larry Sanders Show and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Following 24, she had roles in the TV shows Law & Order, NCIS and Bones. She played Captain Victoria Gates on the hit series Castle.

11 Martha Logan – Jean Smart

Martha Logan was The First Lady and wife of President Charles Logan. She had struggled with depression and anxiety, which lead to some believing she was mentally ill. However, she is responsible for bringing her husband to justice. President Logan was behind the deaths of David Palmer, Michelle Dessler and several terrorist attacks. Jean Smart played Martha Logan to critical reviews and was considered the breakout star of the season. She starred in season 5 and made an appearance in season 6. Jean Smart had a very successful career before her role on 24. She starred in the CBS series Designing Women, from 1986 to 1991. She’s appeared in movies as well, including Sweet Home Alabama, Garden State and I Heart Huckabees. Later, She won two Emmy Awards for her guest role on the NBC series, Frasier. Following 24, she continued to have a great deal of success. She has appeared in Hawaii Five-O, Psych and Hot in Cleveland. She won a third Emmy Award for her role on Samantha Who?. She is nominated for another Emmy for her critically acclaimed role in season 2 of the FX series, Fargo.

10 President Alison Taylor – Cherry Jones

Alison Taylor was the first female President in 24. She was strong, passionate and loyal. She was a Republican and ran the office with pride. Cherry Jones portrayed President Alison Taylor to rave reviews and critical acclaim. Cherry Jones won an Emmy Award for her role as President Taylor. Jones first appeared as Alison Taylor in the TV movie, 24: Redemption. She later starred in both season 7 and 8. It’s rumored that the creators based her character on current Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton. However, Cherry Jones disagrees with that and feels that Eleanor Roosevelt, Golda Meir, Lyndon Johnson and John Wayne, are more of an influence on the character. Prior to her role on 24, she appeared in a number of highly successful films, such as The Horse Whisperer, Erin Brockovich and Signs. In 1995, She won a Tony Award for her performance in the play The Heiress. In 2005, she won another Tony Award for her role in Doubt. Following 24, She has appeared in the shows Awake, Transparent and 11.22.63. She continues to appear on Broadway in several plays, such as Mrs. Warren’s Profession, The Glass Menagerie and When We Were Young and Unafraid.

9 Michelle Dessler – Reiko Aylesworth

Michelle Dessler was a CTU Agent and wife of Tony Almeida. They meet while working at CTU and have some martial problems but eventually get back together as a couple. Her death in season 5 sets off a chain of events that results in Tony Almeida seeking revenge. It’s later revealed that Michelle was pregnant at the time of her murder. Reiko Aylesworth played Michelle Dessler from season 2 to 5. Prior to her role on 24, she first gained attention for her numerous stage plays, which included Peter Pan, Humpty Dumpty and West Side Story. She also appeared in the TV series Law & Order, The West Wing and Ed. In fact, Reiko auditioned for the role of Nina Myers in the first season but lost out to Sarah Clarke. She again auditioned for 24 for the role of Kate Warner in season 2, but that role went to Sarah Wynter. However, she impressed those at 24, which resulted in her gaining the role of Michelle Dessler. Following 24, she continues to land prominent roles in television. She appeared in LOST, Damages, The Good Wife and Elementary.

8 Audrey Raines – Kim Raver

Audrey Raines worked in the Department of Defense and was the love interest to Jack Bauer. She appeared in seasons 4, 5, 6 and 9. She is the daughter of eventual President James Heller. She becomes traumatized after having being abducted and tortured by the Chinese Government. Jack realizes that they cannot be together and she eventually marries Mark Boudreau (Tate Donovan). She is tragically murdered in season 9 after a failed attempt to rescue her. Kim Raver played the role of Audrey Raines to positive reviews. Raver started her career at the young age of 6, and had a role on Sesame Street. Early in her career, she appeared in commercials and on Broadway. Prior to 24, she appeared on the TV shows Spin City, Third Watch and ER. After 24, she has appeared in The Nine, NCIS and Bones. She played the role of cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Teddy Altman, for three seasons on Grey’s Anatomy.

7 President Charles Logan – Gregory Itzin

Charles Logan was the President of the United States. He seemed to be indecisive and uncomfortable as President at times. However, he was deceiving, a liar and corrupted. He was behind a series of attacks on the U.S. to secure oil interests. This included the deaths of David Palmer and Michelle Dessler. Charles Logan is widely regarded by fans as one of the greatest villains in the show's history. Gregory Itzin played Charles Logan to rave reviews in seasons 4, 5, 6 and 8. Before 24, he had appeared in The A-Team, Matlock, Star Trek and The Fatman and Jake. He also played Theodore Hannigan, the father of Mike Hannigan (Paul Rudd), on the massively successful sitcom, Friends. Following his success on 24, he has had roles in Covert Affairs, Desperate Housewives and Hawaii 5-O. In 2006, He was nominated for an Emmy in the Supporting Actor category for his role as Charles Logan.

6 Kim Bauer – Elisha Cuthbert

Kim Bauer is the daughter of Jack and Terri Bauer. When we first meet her, she is a rebellious teenager who has been deeply affected by her parent’s marriage problems. Kim often found herself in a great deal of trouble or dangerous situations that required her father’s full attention, even when he had to stop terrorists from blowing up the United States. Kim starred in the first three seasons but later made guest appearances in seasons 5, 7 and 8. Elisha Cuthbert portrayed Kim Bauer in the series. She first gained attention for her roles on the popular series, Are You Afraid of The Dark? and as a host on Popular Mechanics for Kids. She has appeared in several films, such as Old School, The Girl Next Door and House of Wax. Following 24, she continues to have success in the industry. She starred as Alex Kerkovich in the sitcom, Happy Endings and has a recurring role on the Netflix series, The Ranch. She is married to Ottawa Senator Dion Phaneuf, of the NHL.

5 President David Palmer – Dennis Haysbert

David Palmer was the President of the United States. He was a beloved President that proved he could be cool and calm in every situation. He was the first African-American President in 24. He first meets Jack Bauer because Jack thwarted several attempts on his life. Later, his younger brother, Wayne Palmer (D.B. Woodside), would also serve a term as President. We would also meet his sister, Sandra Palmer (Regina King) in season 6. Dennis Haysbert portrayed David Palmer for the first 5 seasons. His character was shockingly assassinated in the season 5 premier. Prior to 24, he appeared in a number of TV shows, such as The Incredible Hulk, The A-Team and Magnum P.I. He also has a successful film career and appeared in films, such as Mr. Baseball and Heat. Following 24, he continues to have a great career and has had roles in several TV shows, such as Blue Bloods, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Unit. 

4 Nina Myers – Sarah Clarke

Nina Myers was the second in command to Jack Bauer in season one. Jack was having problems in his marriage and during that time had a passionate love affair with Nina Myers. However, Nina was in fact a traitor who betrayed Jack and she was responsible for the death of his wife, Terri Bauer. Nina would go on to become one of Jack’s greatest enemies and one of 24’s greatest villains. Sarah Clarke played the role of Nina Myers in the first three seasons before Jack was finally able to gain some revenge. Before Clarke got her big break on 24, she gained attention for an appearance in a Volkswagen commercial in 1999. She also appeared in ED and Sex and the City. Following 24, she continued to have great success in her career. She played the mother of Bella Swan, Renee Dwyer, in the massively popular film series, Twilight. She continued to appear in TV shows such as House, Covert Affairs and The Tomorrow People. She currently stars in the Amazon series, Bosch. She is married to Xander Berkley who played George Mason in the series.

3 Tony Almeida – Carlos Bernard

Tony Almeida is a prominent character throughout 24. He appears in 115 episodes and is beaten by only Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), who both appeared in more episodes. Initially, there is some friction between Tony and Jack because of Nina Myers but later they become good friends. Eventually, Tony’s wife Michelle Dessler, is killed and Tony is pushed to the edge. He goes to great lengths to gain revenge on the people he holds responsible for her death. Carlos Bernard played Tony Almeida to critical acclaim for the first 5 seasons and season 7. In the special feature on the season 9 DVD, Tony is revealed to be in prison but has just gained access to blueprints of the prison. Prior to his role on 24, he appeared in several TV series, such as Silk Stalkings. After 24, he continues to appear in TV series, such as Castle, Motive and Madam Secretary. Additionally, he loves hot sauce so much that he created his own hot sauce line called “Carlos Almeida’s".

2 Chloe O’Brian – Mary Lynn Rajskub

Chloe O’Brian works at CTU and is one of Jack’s most trusted friends. Chloe is a bit socially awkward but is a genius when it comes to computers. She is also fiercely loyal and has put herself in danger to help her friends and Jack. Mary Lynn Rajskub portrayed Chloe O’Brian to critical acclaim from season 3 to season 9. She has appeared in 137 episodes behind only Kiefer Sutherland, who has appeared in all episodes. She is a comedian and actress and had a very successful career prior to 24. She appeared in several popular films, including Magnolia, Dude, Where’s My Car? and Sweet Home Alabama. She also had roles in a number of TV shows, such as Mr. Show, The Larry Sanders Show and Gilmore Girls. Following 24, she has continued to be a force in both film and TV. She appeared in several TV series, including Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. In 2010, she performed her own solo show at the Steve Allen Theatre called Mary Lynn Spreads Her Legs. In 2016, she performed her solo show, 24 Hours With Mary Lynn Rajskub, at the Edinburgh Festival to rave reviews.

1 Jack Bauer – Kiefer Sutherland

24 revolved around CTU Agent Jack Bauer, who must prevent horrible terrorist attacks from occurring while attempting to bring the terrorist and corrupt government officials to justice. Despite being one of the few uncorrupted characters, Jack will go to extreme measures with torture to get the information he needs. Kiefer Sutherland portrayed Jack Bauer to critical acclaim. Sutherland is the only actor to appear in all seasons and every episode of 24. Prior to 24, Kiefer had a successful career and appeared in a number of films, such as Stand By Me, Flatliners, Lost Boys and A Few Good Men. During his time on 24, Kiefer won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in Drama for his portrayal of Jack Bauer. While starring on 24, he also appeared in the films Phone Booth, The Sentinel and Mirrors. Since the end of 24, he has continued to appear in films and has branched out into a music career. He starred in the TV series Touch, and will be starring in the upcoming series, Designated Survivor. Additionally, he will reprise his role from Flatliners for an upcoming Flatliners remake/sequel. He’s also faced many legal problems and once famously attacked a Christmas Tree.
