15 Shocking Unknowns About Marvel's Cinematic Universe

There are still a lot of questions we have about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What will happen in the future of this long running superhero mega franchise? Things have been building up towards the highly anticipated two-part Avengers: Infinity War film that is due out in 2018. What new characters will we see introduced in the MCU? What will happen to the existing characters? Will some of these superheroes die?

We know that the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy will team up and battle Thanos, but how will this scenario unfold? As of Captain America: Civil War, Thanos still doesn't have all the Infinity Stones. These magical and powerful crystals will grant him the power to attempt to take over the universe. Fans are eagerly anticipating this epic showdown. Until then, here are 15 unknowns about the MCU that have fans scratching their heads.


15 How Will Thanos Get The Infinity Stones?

Thanos is getting fed up with his underlings. Loki failed to defeat the Avengers and Ronan the Accuser was easily bested by the Guardians of the Galaxy. At the end of Age of Ultron, we hear Thanos say: "Fine, I'll do it myself". He puts on the Infinity Gauntlet and looks like he is going to get the Infinity Stones himself. How will he accomplish this? We will find out in Avengers: Infinity War. Does Thanos already have one or two stones?

14 Who Are The Elders Of The Universe?


Little is known about the Elders of the Universe in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So far we have only met one of them. The Collector was introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy, but we don't know who the other members of this ancient cabal are. Thor: Ragnarok will introduce another Elder of the Universe called the Grandmaster. He will be played by Jeff Goldblum.

13 What Are The Final Two Infinity Stones?

So far we know what four of the Infinity Stones are in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but two more have yet to been revealed. Does Thanos already have these stones, or will they show up in one of the future MCU movies like Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2? The Orb from Guardians of the Galaxy is the Power Gem, Loki's scepter contained the Mind Gem, The Tesseract is the Space Gem, and the Aether from Thor: The Dark World is the reality Gem.

12 Will There Ever Be An Inhumans Movie?


There was supposed to be an Inhumans movie coming out in 2019, but Marvel Studios has taken that off of the schedule to accommodate the Spider-Man movies and an Ant-Man sequel. Will this movie about an ancient subspecies of humanity that was confined to the moon ever see the light of day? There were rumors that Vin Diesel would be playing Black Bolt in the film. Here's hoping we eventually see the Inhumans in Phase four or five.

11 Will Ant-Man And The Wasp Get Married?

The success of Ant-Man lead Marvel Studios to quickly greenlight a sequel called Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is due out in 2018. Paul Rudd will reprise his role as Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly will don her new duds to become the Wasp. Ant-Man showed this super-heroic pair hooking up, but will they be more than just a couple in the sequel? Will they tie the knot and get married? This is one of the most famous relationships in Marvel Comics, so it would be interesting to see it play out on the big screen.

10 Who Are The New Guardians Of The Galaxy?


Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will see the return of Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Drax the Destroyer, Star Lord and Gamora, but new members will be joining the team as well. Little is known about these new team members. Pom Klementieff will play a new team member called Mantis. Mantis is highly skilled in martial arts and was given telepathic abilities by an order of Kree priests who raised her. We will have to wait and see how similar the MCU version of this character is to her comic book counter part.

9 Is Cap Now Leading The Secret Avengers?

The end of Captain America: Civil War set up the possibility for two new Avengers teams. The main team of Avengers lead by Iron Man and a secret team that is in hiding lead by Captain America. The possibility is open for a movie about the Secret avengers. Cap broke the team out of the underwater prison known as the Raft, and since they are not sanctioned by the government the Secret Avengers will have to fight crime covertly.


8 What Did Spider-Man See In His Webshooter?


In Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man was introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He got a brand new suit designed by Tony Stark, and the final post credits scene in the movie showed Peter Parker in his room discovering some hidden tech inside his web shooter. His webshooter shone the spider symbol on the wall and Peter finds some hidden files. What did he see? We will have to wait until Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is out next year.

7 Will Rhodey Be Able To Walk Again?

None of the heroes died in Captain America: Civil War, but not all of the heroes escaped unscathed. War Machine was hit in the chest with a blast of friendly fire from the vision. The caused him to fall to the ground and land unconscious. When he awoke it was revealed that he is paralyzed and may not be able to walk again. What will happen to War Machine in future films? Will he recover and be able to continue to fight crime alongside Iron Man?

6 Who Is The Mandarin?


In the Marvel short film All Hail the King, it was revealed that the real Mandarin is still out there, and he was not happy about Trevor Slattery imitating him. Will we ever find out who the real Mandarin is? We might if there is ever another solo Iron Man film, but for now it seems like Robert Downey Jr. will only be playing Iron Man in an Avengers movie or in solo movies starring other characters, such as Spider-Man Homecoming.

5 Who Created Rocket?

The origin of rocket Raccoon is shrouded in mystery. In Guardians of the Galaxy we found out that he is the product of experimentation on a lower life form. Who made Rocket super intelligent? It looks as if Rocket was put through torture when he was created. Rocket says: "I didn't ask to be made." His existence haunts him, and that would be an interesting thing to explore in future Guardians of the Galaxy movie. If we do learn Rocket's origin it likely won't be for a while.

4 What Will Happen To The Winter Soldier?


At the end of Captain America: Civil War, the Winter Soldier was in stasis recovering from his injuries. Black Panther made a deal with Captain America to look after the Winter Soldier. This makes us wonder when will happen to Cap's sidekick. Will he ever be able to shake his killer instinct and have some semblance of free will? Will he forever be a weapon easily manipulated into killing? Maybe we will find answers to those questions in the upcoming Black Panther movie.

3 Who Is Going To Battle Black Panther?

There have been many cast members added to the Black Panther movie due out in 2018, but we still don't know who the big bad of the movie will be. Andy Serkis, reprising his role from Avengers: Age of Ultron, is playing Ulysses Klaw, but will King T'Challa face off against any other villain? Michael B. Jordan was recently added to the cast of the film. There is speculation he will play a villain. Maybe he will be playing Man-Ape. We will find out soon enough.

2 What Will Dr. Strange Learn?


Dr. Strange comes out in only a few months, but we still don't know much about the film other than the fact some complainers are upset that Tilda Swinton is playing the Ancient One instead of an Asian man. Other than this manufactured outrage, little is known about the film. What mystical journey will Dr. Strange go through? Will he master the power of the mystic arts? The trailer shows an eager Stephen Strange begging the Ancient One to teach him all there is to know about magic. What skills that entails we still do not know.

1 Will The Fantastic Four Be In Phase Four?


After the critical and financial failure of the most recent Fantastic Four film, there is a possibility that the movie rights to this super team will return to Marvel. All Marvel has to do is wait, and if Fox doesn't make another Fantastic Four film the rights will automatically revert to Marvel Studios. The possibility is very intriguing and fans haven't wanted this to happen for a long time. Just imagine how cool it would be to see the Fantastic Four team up in outer-space with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Will it happen? That remains to be seen. It is the biggest question about the MCU at the moment.
