Oh the excitement of Hollywood drama! When celebrities go after one another, it is both entertaining and questionable; it used to be that publicists handled all communication between celebrities, the media and beyond. Recently now with the introduction of social media platforms like Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram, celebrities are stating their own opinions and burning a few bridges along the way. The celebrity feud however, is not a new thing. In fact, it has been going on for years; Elizabeth Taylor versus Debbie Reynold, Olivia de Havilland versus Joan Fontaine and Shirley MacLaine versus Debra Winger. The only thing that has changed is it has gotten more vicious and there are way more methods to get your distaste for someone out of your system. Twitter has become a source of inspiration for the passive aggressive in everyone, with backhanded comments that insult even the most successful of people. Stars like Charlie Sheen, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, have used it to gain the upper hand on a rival or to simply state what is on their mind. This breed of celebrity is a whole new ball game; they are not afraid to call someone out in public, online or to their face; they are also not ones to bow out easily from a fight. Here is a list of celebrities who dissed other celebrities on social media.
took to Twitter to challenge the princess of R&B, she naturally got shut down. Ciara started a battle when she did an interview stating that Rihanna was rude to her at an event; Rihanna immediately took to Twitter with a #howrudeofme “My bad Ci, did I 4get to tip u?. Ciara responded back stating, “Trust me Rhianna u don’t want to see me on or off the stage.” Does Ciara still perform? That’s what Rihanna was wondering when she retaliated with “Good luck with bookin that stage u speak of.” This is such a heartbreaking diss for a musician. At least Ciara knows who’s boss now.
11. Charlie Sheen vs. Farrah Abraham
Teen Mom and television personality turned p**n star, Farrah Abraham ticked off the wrong celebrity. Starting by making private texts from actor Charlie Sheen public, she ended up being his new Twitter target. Sheen was apparently propositioning Abraham for coffee dates on a regular basis. However, Abraham must have gotten sick of saying no because she posted the texts online and Sheen retaliated in a big way. Using Twitter to call her a “desperate guzzler of stagnant douche agua”; he went on to attack her looks and insinuate that she is a man by calling her “tranny boobs” and “five o’clock shadow”. This whole situation is creepy, what is a “douche aqua” anyway?
10. Chris Brown vs. Jenny Johnson
Offhand people may not know the name Jenny Johnson, but don’t worry, you are not alone, singer Chris Brown had no clue who she was either until she popped up on his Twitter timeline attempting to insult him. Johnson commented on one of Brown’s Tweets, calling him a worthless piece of s***. Never one to back down, Brown responded with a rather insulting comeback. Random and disrespectful, and yes, it only got worse. The biggest problem here is no one knows who this Jenny Johnson is, maybe this was a career boost for her.
9. Rob Kardashian vs. Rita Ora
We all know when Rob Kardashian falls in love, he falls hard (i.e. Adrienne Bailon). So when singer Rita Ora stepped into the picture, it was no different until the relationship went sour and exploded all over social media. Kardashian exposed Ora as a liar and a cheater in a very lengthy Twitter post. “She cheated on me with nearly 20 dudes while we were together, I wonder how many she will sleep with now that we apart? But I mean 20?!!!”. Kardashian went on to attack Ora’s career stating, “How can a woman who is so busy trying to start her own career have time to be with so many dudes all while in a relationship?! I’m actually disgusted a woman could give up her body to more than 20 dudes in less than a year’s time while trying to start a career.” Clearly there is no coming back from comments like that.
8. Rihanna vs. Amanda Bynes
Okay, so we all now know what has been eating away at actress Amanda Bynes as to why she was so casually attacking fellow celebrities on social media. However, it does not mean that it is not hilarious when someone zings her right back. Take Rihanna for instance; a few years back, Bynes set her sights on the songstress calling her “ugly”, telling her to stop trying to be white and making the cringe-worthy comment about Chris Brown beating her because she wasn’t pretty enough. Rihanna used her quick wits and came back at Bynes with a simple sentence; “Ya see what happens when they cancel intervention?”. It might have been a bit harsh, but it got some laughs and a whole lot of re-Tweets.
7. Amber Rose vs. Kanye West
Ever since rapper Kanye West broke up with former stripper and current baby mama to Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose, he has dropped little digs here and there alluding to her being a less than savory human being. However, in defense to Amber attacking his wife Kim Kardashian on social media; West went on the popular radio show The Breakfast Club and snapped back at Amber stating, “I had to take 30 showers before I got with Kim.” Indicating that Rose was dirty. Not all of this fight was on social media, but it has been brewing for years starting with Twitter. West also went on to state that he made Amber Rose what she is today; “She’s just soaking in the moment. If Kim had dated me when I wanted, there would be no Amber Rose.” He’s not totally wrong.
6. 50 Cent vs. Floyd Mayweather
In the summer of 2014, rapper 50 Cent and pro boxer Floyd Mayweather re-ignited a long standing beef, basically arguing about who has more money. The beef started again when 50 Cent called out Mayweather in an pseudo ALS Ice Bucket challenge video that turned into 50 Cent daring Mayweather to read one page out of a Harry Potter book without messing up. If Mayweather could do this, 50 Cent would donate $750,000 to charity. Instead of reading, Mayweather took to Twitter to show off a copy of a check for almost $73 million that he donated to charity. The feud only got worse from there and the two continue to take subtle shots at one another.
5. Riff Raff vs. Sam Smith
Supposed Springbreakers inspiration Riff Raff and everybody’s favorite new artist Sam Smith, got into a little tiff of their own after the 2014 MTV video music awards. Riff Raff who accompanied Katy Perry to the awards show, accused Smith of cropping him out of a few group photos celebrating that night. Immediately jumping off the handle, Riff Raff took to Twitter to stress his disappointment, calling Smith a ”chubby little f*** factory”. In fact, the whole quote was a dig to Smith and his appearance “Thanks for cutting me out of the picture you chubby little f*** factory. PS Your face is super huge.” What Riff Raff failed to realize was Smith had several other photos posted that included him. Always being the bigger man, Smith is yet to comment.
4. Seth Rogen vs. Justin Bieber
From one Canadian to another, it seems like funny guy Seth Rogen wanted to share some sound advice with musician Justin Bieber, but only encountered his obnoxious ego. A few years ago, Rogen took to Twitter to express his distaste, Tweeting, “All jokes aside, Justin Bieber is a piece of s***”. This random Tweet set off a hell storm in Bieber who retaliated by Tweeting back, “Seth Rogan sorry I didn’t bow down when I asked 2 meet u was probably a bit shy and didn’t want to be over the top but still. love ur movies.” Although Bieber took the high road, it’s got to sting being called a piece of s*** for the world to see.
3. Lorde vs. Diplo, One Direction and Taylor Swift
Lorde is a very opinionated musician. On a daily basis, she is Tweeting about human rights, role models and other worldly disasters and the rest of the time, she is starting Twitter wars with fellow celebrities. When Diplo stated what we were all thinking on Twitter about musician Taylor Swift having no butt, Lorde stood up for her new found bestie, by calling Diplo’s penis tiny. She then moved on to boy band One Direction, by un-provokingly calling them “overrated”. Oh, we must not forget when Lorde set her sights on T-Swizzle herself, calling her “unattainable” and eluding that her looks are an unrealistic image for a role model. However, in true Lorde fashion she went back on every word, claiming to be friends with most of the people she has ruthlessly insulted.
2. Nicki Minaj vs. Iggy Azalea
Here is another dig that didn’t start on social media but surely ended there. During her acceptance speech for best female hip hop artist at the 2014 BET awards, rapper Nicki Minaj made a speech where she vaguely called out Iggy Azalea for not writing her own lyrics. Minaj casually stated, “What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it,”Minaj then ended the speech by saying “No, no, no shade, no, no, no shade.” Could this comment get anymore hilarious? Iggy responded to the comment with a lengthy Tweet that summed up to her being “unbothered”.
1. Amber Rose vs. Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner
The juiciest feud so far for 2015, involves 31 year-old Amber Rose who decided to throw shade at 17 year-old Kylie Jenner, who is reportedly dating 25 year-old rapper Tyga. Yes,it is confusing; Tyga used to be engaged to Amber’s best friend Blac Chyna, but when things went sour he supposedly set his sights on underage beauty Jenner. Amber decided to publicly address the situation on popular radio show The Breakfast club, where she said, “[Kylie’s] a baby, she needs to go to bed at 7 o’clock and relax,”. The feud carried over to Twitter where Khloe Kardashian got involved, first pleading with Rose to stop talking about her family and quickly escalating to shots at Rose’s stripper past. Rose retaliated by bringing up Kim’s sex tape and Khloe’s father issues. The insults are still flying.
