We live in a society that is obsessed with celebrities. Every little thing a celebrity does is put under a microscope, and for some reason, we always put them on a pedestal. In other words, we expect them to behave and act a certain way. Whenever a celebrity does or says anything wrong, the media always blows it out of proportion. Sometimes the public and the media take what a famous person says out of context. Some celebrities are hated just for being famous. Other celebrities are despised for what they did or said. Other times, it is considered “cool” to hate on a celebrity.
Some people actually have rational reasons for disliking a particular famous person though. Perhaps this celebrity was accused of sexual assault by multiple women. Maybe the celebrity said multiple racist comments or got caught running a dog fighting ring. On the other hand, many people have an irrational hatred of a particular celebrity. For example, just because a celebrity makes more money than you, it does not give you a reason to despise them. Not to mention, hating on someone because he refused to play for his home team is also not a valid reason to hate someone. In all honesty though, we just love to hate on certain celebrities.
12 Lebron James
Just about everyone has heard of stories regarding Lebron James. He is currently the best basketball player in the world, and spent a majority of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Early in his career, he was one of the most beloved athletes around. However, in 2010, that all changed when he decided to leave his hometown team to play for the Miami Heat. His departure received a lot of backlash from former players, the media and fans alike. The reason he left Cleveland was because he had a better chance of winning titles with Miami. In 2014, after accomplishing his goal, he went back to the Cavaliers. To this day, he still has a ton of haters. That said, most people hate on him because it is considered “cool”. Similar to Lebron James, even non-sports fans know who he is. Tiger Woods is arguably one the greatest golfers who ever lived. He once had a perfect reputation both on and off the golf course. In 2009, his image changed forever when he was caught cheating on his wife. While it is quite common for someone to cheat on their significant other, the reason people got so offended by this was because he was once considered an American icon. He had many endorsement deals with companies such as: Nike, American Express, General Motors and Gatorade. In fact, after his infidelities were exposed, many of his endorsement deals were dropped due to his negative publicity. Today, his reputation is a lot better than it was, but people still continue to hate on him. He’s one of those athletes you either love or hate.

7 Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj is one of the most famous female rappers in the entertainment industry, and virtually everyone has listened to her music at some point. Why does she get so much hate? Another phrase he became famous for was “tiger blood.” For most people, they either feel extreme admiration for him or extreme hatred.
4 Shia LaBeouf
Shia LaBeouf is known for being on the Disney series, Even Stevens and as the main protagonist of the first three Transformers movies. Over the past couple of years, he has been accused of plagiarism on multiple occasions. Late in 2013, he released a short film that had many similarities to the comic, Justin M. Damiano. Both have the same exact monologue. Shia LaBeouf’s other works, such as his comics, have also been plagiarized. Not only that, in 2014, he stormed out of a press conference for his film, Nymphomaniac. At that movie’s premiere, he wore a bag on his head to promote his art show. In other words, he took the attention away from the movie and his co-stars.

In sports circles, Donald Sterling was known for being one of the most incompetent owners in the NBA. Since owning the Los Angeles Clippers in 1979, the Clippers had a thirty year run of ineptitude. However, he reached a new low when TMZ recorded a conversation between him and a young female friend named V. Stiviano. In the conversation, Sterling made racist comments about African Americans. According to the conversation, Donald Sterling was upset over a photo of V. Stiviano and former basketball legend, Magic Johnson. He didn’t like the fact that she associated with African Americans. Not only that, he implied that he didn't want them at his games either. Eventually, NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver banned him from the NBA for life.
1 Bill Cosby
In just one year, Bill Cosby came from being one of the most beloved and iconic celebrities of all time, to one of the most despised people on the planet. He is one of the most famous comedians and television actors of all time. He created the cartoon show, Fat Albert and starred in the sitcom, The Cosby Show. Ironically, those two shows taught us morals. What did Bill Cosby do to reach so much hate? In recent times, many women have come forward saying that Cosby sexually assaulted them. It wasn't like only one or two women claimed this either. As of now, over thirty women have accused him of drugging and assaulting them. Even though there is no proof of any of these claims, Bill Cosby will forever be considered guilty in the court of public opinion.
