The celebrity Twitter feud has become something of the norm today. Once upon a time, we would have heard about celebrity arguments and insults through eye-witness reports and various sources. Today we see them for ourselves, 140 characters at a time. 10 Don Lemon and Jonah Hill

In 2012, we saw an odd and rather touchy Twitter exchange between CNN anchor Don Lemon and actor Jonah Hill. Lemon took to the platform claiming that the actor had treated him like “the help” after he ran into him at a hotel, “Said hi to @jonahhill in hotel. Think he thought I was bellman. Didn't know his name til bellman told me. A lesson to always be kind”

Hill was not too happy about Lemon’s remarks and retorted back,"I said hi what do you want me to do move in with you? I was in a hurry. Didn't realize you were a 12 year old girl. Peace.

Lemon, who is openly gay, continued to bite back at Hill saying, “Hardly. You're not my type. But I know rude. And u were”. This exchange showed just how something quite small can turn into a big public feud. Following the argument, Hill deleted his tweets, but Lemon continued to explain himself to make a point of just how rude he thought the actor was.

9 Chelsea Handler and Nick Cannon

The war between talk show host Chelsea Handler and rapper Nick Cannon, has continued to brew over years. It initially began in 2010 when Handler made a joke about Cannon's comedy tour on Twitter, "I just heard Nick Cannon is starting a comedy tour. Who’s going to do the comedy?”

Cannon did not however find this funny and retaliated with a number of scathing Tweets including, “Everyone knows @Chelseahandler had sex with the head of E! for her show. So when it gets cancelled does he get residual p**** for the reruns? @Chelseahandler Looks like she got hit in the face with a hot bag of nickels!”

Chelsea Handler continued to stay quiet on Twitter, but this did not stop her from making jibes at the Wild 'n Out star through other means. Last year, she continued to comment on him on her show, this time regarding his then relationship with Mariah Carey, saying, “No, I don’t know about this kind of Black love. He’s acting like a white boy”.

Of course, Nick was not going to take those comments and again took to Twitter to get back at Chelsea in a series of Tweets including, “I didn’t hear what @chelseahandler said about me because I don’t watch her show. (NO ONE DOES) What channel is it on, public access?”

8 Chris Brown and Frank Ocean

Chris Brown has not been shy of getting himself in trouble in his career. Before this Twitter war erupted, he had been exchanging some nasty words with OFWGKTA artist Tyler The Creator, so maybe it wasn't a surprise when Tyler’s affiliate Frank Ocean, didn't see Chris’ tweet about him as a compliment, after he compared his talent to “a young James Fauntleroy or Kevin Cossum”.

Ocean replied back, “I f**ks wit chris brown, reminds me of a young sisqo or ike turner. I just don’t understand the underhand comments. That’s all I’m saying”.

Losing his temper, Brown tweeted, “I was tryna help yo sales ni**a. You f**kin clown!” along with other offensive comments. Tyler The Creator also jumped back in to support Ocean, tweeting Brown with, “You act like you like to eat soup? Aren’t you a role model?”

7 Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton

Once upon a time, Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton were actually really good friends, believe it or not. These celebrity buddies quickly turned into foes after Gaga claimed that Perez sent her a picture of her in a wheelchair with the word “karma” scrawled across it. Lady Gaga even said she had the message to prove it. In fact, the singer took to Twitter to let her fear of Hilton be known when he was rumored to be seen looking for apartments in her building. She tweeted, "STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!"

The famous blogger responded ridiculing Gaga’s alleged habits, “Drugs don't just ruin lives. They run friendships and careers too. Stay away!!!!”

But the differences between the two continued to get nasty when Lady Gaga’s dedicated fans turned on Perez, making him fear for his life. The tweets kept coming as Perez would go onto speak about his hurt, claiming that, “The truth will all eventually come out”. One of the more bizarre Twitter fights to this day, the gossip king and Gaga have not resolved their problems yet.

6 Joan Rivers and Lindsay Lohan

Twitter Feud

Most people were used to the late Joan Rivers’ cutting humor and critiques of fellow celebrities from her show, The Fashion Police. In 2010, Rivers Tweeted a joke about Lindsay Lohan regarding her troubles with alcohol, “I was just reading about the new Lindsay Lohan diet, which is all liquid. 80 proof".

During this time, Lohan had been battling with legal issues including an upcoming 90-day jail sentence. The actress responded lashing out on Rivers, drawing in her estranged father too, “Joan Rivers and her 'stargument' make me believe that she and Michael Lohan are a match made in heaven”. She also proposed that the two should have a “Botox rehab reality show”.

This Twitter war became even messier when Lindsay’s ex-girlfriend Sam Ronson, took a swipe at Rivers too, “You have collagen older than Lindsay, pick on someone your own age”. The late presenter explained the situation on The Insider, claiming her comments were a joke whilst also making further digs at Lohan and Ronson, calling her a “skinny boy”.

5 Amanda Bynes and Rihanna

Amanda Bynes has had her fair share of Twitter feuds with a number of celebrities. It is fair to say that a lot of her spats have been rather unpredictable and random. Amongst her pick was superstar Rihanna, back in 2013.

Bynes made a vicious attack on Riri from the outset when she said, "@rihanna you look so ugly tryin be white...Chris brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough".

In return, Rihanna acted calmly, Tweeting just once to display the ridiculous nature of Bynes' comments, "Ya see what happens when they cancel Intervention?” Bynes retaliated calling Riri “fugly” whilst the singer refused to respond.

4 Donald Trump and Russell Brand

We all know that Russell Brand is not a man of few words and is definitely not afraid of offending. So when businessman Donald Trump Tweeted some unsavory comments about the comedian, it was likely that it was not going to end there. Trump took to Twitter after watching him on the Late Show in October last year, “I watched Russell Brand @rustyrockets on the @jimmyfallon show the other night—what the hell do people see in Russell—a major loser!'”

The billionaire didn't stop there. His attack on Brand came with another Tweet slating the British star’s former wife Katy Perry, for marrying him, “@katyperry must have been drunk when she married Russell Brand @rustyrockets”.

These comments did not got unnoticed for too long by Brand who replied choosing to ridicule Trump’s hair, "@realDonaldTrump are you drunk when you write these tweets? Or does that foam you spray on your bald head make you high?"

Brand took the feud another step further when he tweeted links to articles that disputed Trump’s claim to wealth and alleged that the businessman accumulated much of it from his father and financial aid. Whilst Trump chose not to address these accusations, he continued to pull Perry further into the argument, who did not respond to the tweets.

3 Miley Cyrus and Sinead O'Connor

When Miley Cyrus released the video for her song “Wrecking Ball”, many people drew comparisons to Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares To You”. Indeed, Cyrus even cited it as inspiration for her own visuals.

However, the Hannah Montana star did not exactly take kindly to O’Connor when she wrote an open letter to her warning that the music business was making a “prostitute” of her and blasted her for “sending dangerous signals to other young women”. This would be one of four letters the Irish singer would send to Cyrus.

In retaliation, Miley took to Twitter. Taking a jab at the singer’s mental health issues, she Tweeted, “Before Amanda Bynes…There Was”, along with a screen shot of O’Connor’s public meltdown in 2012 where she was seen making a plea for help. It was clear that Sinead O’Connor was pretty livid about this when she chose to write Miley another letter blasting her for making jokes about her mental illness, "[H]ave you any idea how stupid and dangerous it is to mock people for suffering illness?” The Irish star demanded she took down the Tweets or she would hear from her lawyer, whilst also labeling her “anti-female”.

Miley played it safe choosing not to criticize the singer too much when she spoke about the feud on the Matt Lauer Show. Despite this, O’Connor’s views of the 21-year-old star have not changed.

2 Amber Rose and Khloe Kardashian

Model Amber Rose and reality TV star Khloe Kardashian, recently took to Twitter to get their claws out at each other. Time and time again, Khloe has been the public protector of her famous family.

The feud unfolded when Rose commented about rapper Tyga's alleged relationship with 17-year-old Kylie Jenner on a radio interview with Power 105.1, “She’s a baby, she needs to go to bed at 7 o’clock and relax…[Tyga] should be ashamed of himself…He has a beautiful woman and a baby and left that for a 16-year-old who just turned 17. Like, nah”.

Khloe Kardashian was not impressed with Amber’s words, and called her out on Twitter, “’I was a stripper since I was 15 years old,’ Amber Rose told Foxx. Please don’t worry about my sister who has a career & her shit together at ONLY 17”. She continued Tweeting her disapproval of speaking about fellow celebrities. Rose, not one to keep quiet, then brought up comparisons against Khloe’s older sister Kim. “I'll be that lil wh*** to support my family like ur older sister is a wh*** 2 support hers. We're even #MuvaGivesFacts”. Let’s not forget, Amber once dated Kim K’s now husband, Kanye West.

This Twitter fight only continued to get messier with comments coming in from Kanye West regarding his wife’s disgust of his previous relationship.

1 Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea

Few can contest rapper Azealia Banks’ fiery nature. She has had a long history of feuds with a number of fellow celebrities. This Twitter beef dates back to September 2011, when Banks proclaimed she was far better than her rivals including Iggy Azalea, 'I’m next level, I had a song about being a Barbie before Nicki Minaj had a song about being a Barbie. Here’s the link to my song. And f**k Iggy Azalea, I had a song called "P***y" before she ever did. Here’s a link to my song. It’s better".

In response, Iggy Azalea tried to keep things calm Tweeting back, “‘The best thing you can be is humble, because it's not about who did it first; it's about who did it better”. Azealia Banks continued, branding Iggy a racist for a song lyric that she would go on to apologize for, “'I'm a runaway slave ... master'".

Iggy and the hip hop world thought that was the end of it. This was until the “Fancy” star appeared on the cover of the fifth annual Freshman cover of XXL magazine. Of course, Banks had plenty to say about this, “How can you endorse a white woman who called herself “a runaway slave master. Iggy Azalea on the XXL freshman list is all wrong”. Banks did not exactly refrain from talking about the issue of race either, labelling herself “pro black girl”. Once again, Iggy tried to take the high road Tweeting, “You can’t block my blessings! Today I’m celebrating!” The end of last year saw the latest installment of this Twitter feud as Banks called out Azalea when talking about the Eric Garner case. We can definitely expect a part four to this feud.
