Country music is one of the most popular genres out there right now. With that popularity comes tons of new, young country stars trying to make a name for themselves. A lot of country music themes revolve around love and heartbreak, so it is no wonder that singers find themselves in the coveted role of "heartthrob" because of their music.
Although a lot of the biggest names in country music are off the market (think Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan), there are still a lot of stars out there that are still looking for their other half. Fans love to daydream that one day they could be the inspiration for a Top 40 hit song about love. That possibility is what record companies love to capitalize on when they are promoting new (and established) artists. Chances are it will never happen, but that doesn't mean you can't dream. Here are 10 of the most eligible male country music stars of right now.
10 Sam Hunt
A former college football player, Sam Hunt is obviously in fantastic shape. He headed to Nashville after his NFL career failed to take off and started writing songs for huge stars like Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban. His debut album, Montevallo, was released in October 2014 and includes hits "Leave the Night On" and "Take Your Time". It debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Top Country charts. His music contains elements of country, pop and R&B, and you can catch him live on his Lipstick Graffiti tour, that started on Valentine's Day this year.
9 Scotty McCreery
The winner of the 10th season of American Idol, 21-year-old Scotty McCreery stood out because of the mature sound of his voice. His debut album Clear As Day was released in 2011 and has been certified platinum in the U.S. He also made history as the first country artist to debut at Number 1 on the Billboard charts with their first album. Scotty has been linked romantically to the girl who plays his love interest in the videos "The Trouble With Girls" and "Feelin' It" college student, Gabi Dugal, but they are supposedly just friends.
8 Hunter Hayes
23-year-old Hunter Hayes released his self titled debut album in 2011, and opened for Taylor Swift on her Speak Now tour and Carrie Underwood on her Blown Away tour. His most successful single "Wanted" has sold over 3.5 million copies and he has been nominated for 4 Grammys. He can play more than 30 instruments, and his talent as a singer and songwriter prompted Billboard to call him the Leader of Country Music's Youth Revolution. He is currently dating hairstylist and makeup artist, Libby Barnes, but at 23 he's still a long way from officially off the market.
7 Kenny Chesney
You may remember when Kenny Chesney was married to Renee Zellweger for all of 4 months before they got an annulment. He hasn't been linked seriously to anyone else since their relationship in 2005, but has bragged about his numerous conquests. Chesney's career has spanned the last 22 years, and he has been named The Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year four times. There are rumors swirling around that he may be thinking about getting engaged to his current girlfriend, but nothing is official yet.
6 Chase Bryant
21-year-old Chase Bryant is the newest kid on the country block. His self-titled debut album was released at the end of 2014, and the single "Take it on Back" made it to the top 20 of Hot Country Songs. He has been an opening act for Tim McGraw and Brantley Gilbert, and just embarked on his own headlining tour in January of this year. Bryant's strange preference for playing a right handed guitar upside down because he is left handed gives him that quirky edge that all the girls love.
5 Dustin Lynch
29-year-old Dustin Lynch released his debut album in 2012, and he has been steadily growing in popularity ever since. His songs "Cowboys and Angels" and "She Cranks My Tractor" made it to the Top 20 country charts, and the album hit Number 1 on the Billboard Country charts in 2012. The Tennessee native has been praised for his classic country music sensibilities and been called the heir to the George Strait throne. Lynch has been so focused on his music career that he admits he actually hasn't been on a date in years. That should change as soon as the right girl comes along.
4 Billy Currington
Throughout his almost 20 year career, Billy Currington has had eight Number 1 singles on the Billboard Country charts including "Must Be Doin' Something' Right" and "I Got a Feelin'". He also recored a duet with Shania Twain in 2003 called "Party for Two" for her Greatest Hits album. Currington said in the past that he didn't think it would be fair for him to get married and have kids when he was so busy with his music, and going on tour. But he has four sisters, and he definitely sees marriage as a possibility in his future.
3 Brantley Gilbert
Singer-songwriter, Brantley Gilbert has released three studio albums, the most recent being "Just As I Am" in May 2014. It has been certified Gold and hit Number 1 on the Billboard country charts. He has also written songs for veterans like Jason Aldean and Colt Ford. Gilbert was engaged to fellow country singer and actress, Jana Kramer in 2013, but the two broke up later that year. He recently announced that he is engaged to school teacher, Amber Cochran, a girl he has known for ten years, who inspired his song "More Than Miles". Cochran was married to someone else before becoming engaged to Gilbert, sparking rumors that the two got together before the divorce was final.
2 Chase Rice
You might recognize 29-year-old Chase Rice as the runner up of Survivor: Nicaragua. But after his 15 minutes of reality show fame, he went on to co-write the hit single "Cruise" for bro-country duo, Florida Georgia Line. He released his own EP Ready, Set, Roll in 2013, and the lead single of the same name has been certified gold. Rice wrote his first song "Larger Than Life" after his father, who always encouraged him to follow his love of music, passed away. He is currently single, but has admitted that he has had a crush on Ariana Grande ever since she performed with Little Big Town at the CMAs.
1 Brett Eldredge
28-year-old Brett Eldredge has the distinction of having been one of the opening acts on Taylor Swift's Red Tour. He released his debut album Bring You Back in 2013 which spawned 5 singles, including most recently "Mean To Me". Eldredge won the Country Music Association's award for New Artist of the Year in 2014, and is poised to be even bigger in 2015. He is currently single because he wants to focus on his career, but he would be open to a relationship if the opportunity presented itself. He says he likes a girl that can be spontaneous, and go with the flow, although he has never really been in love. He is still waiting for that special one.
