10 Most Notorious Cases Of 'Good Girl Gone Bad' Celebs

It all starts with the sweet and innocent persona of these celebrities, who most likely have dozens of people in power trying to tell them how to brand themselves to the world. This usually lasts for a couple of years, where celebs agree to follow the orders given by the people in charge, before they eventually get sick and tired of portraying a character that really isn't them, thus making a drastic change. It is a lot to take in when you have been supporting an artist who has been singing about high school drama and boyfriend breakups, to all of a sudden jump back into the limelight with the most explicit lyrics, while dancing semi-naked in their music videos. For many of these celebs, becoming a so-to-say 'bad girl' has worked in their favor, as their fans have grown to love the personality that tends to be their true self, not one that they were forced to be by certain record labels or TV network execs. For others, revealing their true form has done nothing but seen their career plummet down the drain, thanks to alcohol, drugs and depression that all began playing a part once they decided to ditch their good girl image. See below for the ten most shocking good girl gone bad moments, and find out whether their new identity has helped their careers or tarnished them.

10 Rihanna

Rihanna presented herself as this sweet 16-year-old from Barbados when she was first introduced to the world in 2005. But things quickly changed once the singer began work on her third studio album Good Girl Gone Bad, which would go on to sell more than 7 million copies worldwide. The 27-year-old’s entire image changed following the release with the edgy new album. A new hairstyle, a complete different sound, a new image, and a shockingly new attitude. Rihanna would go on to do daring things, such as pose naked for magazines, glamorize smoking weed via her social media sites, while often being linked to bullying other women, i.e Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran. The 2005 version of Rihanna would’ve never done that, right?

9 Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus was everybody’s favorite singing teen sensation after she landed the role of Hannah Montana in 2006. The show made Miley a worldwide superstar, and movies were quickly rolling in for the 22-year-old, who came across as one of the most well-behaved teens in Hollywood. But it didn’t take long for all of that to change. As she prepped for the release of her studio album, Bangerz, Miley showcased an entire new image that was so raunchy, parents were fuming that Cyrus would all of a sudden go from good girl to bad, shoving the raunchiness down children’s throats. Her infamous performance at the VMAs in 2013 quickly went viral, and it was certain at that point that the Miley people once knew and loved, had disappeared.

8 Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan was pretty much a very good actress who everybody wanted in their movies following the success of Mean Girls, in 2004. But it seemed that Lindsay’s rise to fame from that point on, had her spiral out of control, presumably because she couldn’t deal with the pressure of being a young celebrity. Lohan was alleged to have formed a drug addiction, her partying ways were so crazy, she would often miss shooting scenes for a movie. And if that wasn’t bad enough, she started befriending some notorious party-goers, including Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. Now, Lohan is struggling to make the paychecks that she once saw, and from what reports have said over the months, Lindsay is still not 100% clean.

7 Taylor Momsen

It is crazy to think that Taylor Momsen was the same sweet innocent girl who played Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Following the success of the film, Taylor’s good girl image struggled to keep up, and it didn’t take long before the heavy eyeliner and eye-shadow were applied to the face, branding herself with an entirely new attitude. Taylor landed herself her reprising role on Gossip Girl, and while her character’s style was completely different from her own in real life, the 22-year-old always made sure that the looks provided by the production team weren’t permanent.

6 Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes was probably the last person people thought would fall off the train and come out looking scruffy. The former Nickelodeon child starlet went through a deep meltdown in 2012, when she bizarrely took a cab from New York to Los Angeles, before trashing her Manhattan hotel room and letting random strangers stay at an apartment she was renting. Narcotics, weed and alcohol, were said to have played a part in Amanda’s downfall — even her parents couldn’t control their daughter’s behavior, it was that bad. Bynes would go on to check into a rehab facility, and is reportedly doing much better now. But one should note that she has allegedly been to rehab on multiple occasions before, and it never worked. Hopefully, this time it will work.

5 Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse had potential from an early age, her parents would always say. While she was a tough little girl to raise, Amy always put people before herself — she cared so much about other people’s feelings that she hated the idea of ever letting people down. 2003 was a great year for Winehouse, who signed a $500,000 record deal that saw the songstress pen the album Frank, all by herself. The album was a success, but by the time that Amy began work on Back to Black, her appearance had drastically changed. The soul-jazz singer faced a shocking drug addiction, it was so bad that her parents had even feared for her life. She wouldn’t eat, and made drugs and alcohol part of her daily regimen. In the end, alcohol got the better of her and took her life.

4 Britney Spears

Back in the late 90s, Britney Spears quickly took the pop world by storm with her endless amount of hits, including Hit Me Baby One More Time. Her successful run in the industry would last till 2006, before the singer would start spiraling out of control, to the point where family members couldn’t even help her. The constant break-ups with ex-husband, Kevin Federline, took a toll on Brit, who turned to partying in hopes that she would feel better that way. Following several meltdown and severe depression modes, Spears went on to shave her head and perform an odd routine of Gimme More, at the 2007 VMAs. This girl was no longer good in anybody’s eyes — singing wise and as a role model.

3 Demi Lovato

Drugs are not something you would think Demi Lovato was doing when she was trying to create her own path in Hollywood, but to deny it would be a lie. Demi has openly admitted in the past that when she came to L.A and got her own place, her moods were all over the place. Why? The former Disney star says that she struggled with the fact that everybody in Los Angeles looked perfectly skinny and thin, while she on the other hand, was curvier than the girls she would often surround herself with. This led to Demi’s depression, which saw the singer begin to try to harm herself, embark on a drug addiction, along with strong mood swings. She would go on to seek help in rehab, but admits that an addict never fully forgets.

2 Selena Gomez

Just like her former best pal Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez experienced her own little downfall, turning this woman from a good girl who had clearly gone bad. Following an on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber, along with reports alleging that JB had often cheated on her, Selena turned into an unrecognizable person when she formed an addiction to Xanax. Furthermore, several reports claimed that the songstress also struggled with alcohol and other prescription drugs, which eventually saw her check into rehab for a measly two weeks. She broke the program off because she felt it was unnecessary, but then again, what addict doesn’t deny their wrongdoings? They all do. Performance wise, Selena has been much more raunchy these days; if it’s not short booty pants and a bra, you are unlikely to catch Gomez onstage.

1 Lil Kim

Not many people know this, but before Lil’ Kim became a rapper, she was working multiple jobs in New York, hoping that the money would be enough to survive on her own. As a teen, Kim found herself on the street after being kicked out of her father’s house, so her hustle began at an early age. Nonetheless, she was very conservative, and would’ve never dared to present herself in a raunchy manner — until Notorious B.I.G came around. He would go on to reshape Kim’s entire appearance, becoming a sex icon, and a controversial musician with the most explicit lyrics you wouldn’t dare to play at your grandma’s house. She quit her job and quickly followed up with the idea to drop the nice act and become the self-proclaimed raunchy Queen B.
