We all know the Hollywood stars du jour; Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Channing Tatum are just a few of the very obvious names that spring to mind. We see the same celebrities flash across our television screens and headlines day in, and day out. But what about those not-so-known stars? The actors we see in occasional movies, enjoy in passing, but can’t quite put a name to the face? Many of the A-listers might say these actors are the lucky ones; they have the opportunity to do what they love, they receive recognition in the industry but manage to operate largely anonymously in their day to day lives.
For at least ten such stars, however, that reality will soon be no more. There are so many incredibly talented actors out there who are trying to claim the spotlight they deserve, and they're about to get the biggest break of their careers. Perhaps they dream of being a household name like Jennifer Lawrence or Josh Hutcherson, or perhaps they're dreading the inevitable media storm when their big movies hit the box office. But how are these going to make it onto the mainstream radar? Well besides the fact that they've worked incredibly hard, studied their craft and picked the best roles, they're also nabbing roles that people are talking about a lot.
Whether American, British, Irish or from even further afield, this list will show you which dreamy actors and gorgeous actresses who are about to hit the bigtime, so you can call dibs on them before all your friends.
10 Ansel Elgort
The tween and teen crowd already know who Ansel is, after his role in The Fault in Our Stars. But what many people don't know is how far his star is about to soar. With only four roles on his resume, it’s pretty impressive that they have been rather huge, memorable roles; Carrie, Divergent, the Fault in Our Stars and Men Women & Children. His next role is the sequel to the Divergent franchise, which is set to grow bigger with each new release. So if you don’t know this kid yet, you will... Or some 15 year old girl will surely inform you.
9 Emilia Clarke
If you watch Game of Thrones then you will know her as Daenerys Targaryen. However, soon you will know her for many, many more roles. Clarke will be starring alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator: Genisys and in Voice from the Stone. This is only the start for the British beauty and after her blockbuster action role we're sure we'll be seeing a lot more of her in the future.
8 Eddie Redmayne
You may remember this Brit as Marius from Les Miserables, or as the leading man in the Marilyn Monroe biopic, My Week With Marilyn. So far, we don't know all that much about him except that it's clear that he can sing and act.
Later this year, however, he will be starring in the Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything - a hot tip for the 2015 Oscars - while next year he will be in Jupiter Ascending with Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum.
7 Nina Dobrev
If you're an avid viewer of the CW network, then you'll recognize this brown-eyed girl as Elena Gilbert on the Vampire Diaries. With the success of her vampire show, Dobrev is making her way onto the big screen with films such as Perks of Being a Wallflower, Let’s Be Cops and the Final Girls. She's already a big star on the small screen with her character being used in three different shows, but it looks like Hollywood is calling for this gorgeous brunette.
6 Lupita Nyong'o
Okay, so maybe she did win an Oscar already, but although we haven't heard much from her since it doesn't look like the Oscar curse is about to hit Lupita. The Yale grad won her Oscar for 12 Years a Slave but she will soon be staring in Star Wars: Episode VII the Force Awakens and in the Jungle Book with an all-star cast.
5 Domhnall Gleeson
You may remember this Irish actor from the romantic comedy About Time with Rachel McAdams. Or even from the Michael Fassbender indie flick Frank. How about when he was a Weasley brother in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? No, well that’s probably because there were more famous actors upstaging him.
But no more! The talented Gaelic redhead and son of acting legend Brendan Gleeson is starring in five new movies to be released next year, one of them being Star Wars: Episode VII The Forces Awaken. The producers are being particularly mysterious about the role he'll be taking on in said blockbuster, but it's a safe bet that we'll no longer be saying, “hey, isn’t he the guy from…” You're about to know exactly who Domhnall Gleeson is.
4 Felicity Jones
This English rose has a strong following in England, after starring in a series of television shows and some memorable independent movies like Like Crazy, but now she's rising to stardom Stateside too. Jones is starring in the Theory of Everything with #8 on the list, as well as True Story with James Franco and A Monster Calls with Liam Neeson. If anything, this beauty could sure say she shared the screen with some pretty amazing stars
3 Jena Malone
Although she has had a steady acting career since the mid 90’s, not many people know who Jena Malone is. She has been in impressive films such as Into the Wild, Catching Fire and Pride and Prejudice, but the year of 2015 may be Malone's year to get the recognition she deserves. The thirty year old is set to star in the new Paul Thomas Anderson movie, Inherent Vice and the highly anticipated Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
2 Luke Grimes
This Ohio born hottie was practically unknown until his latest appearance on HBO’s True Blood. Before that his claim to ‘fame’ role was playing an illegitimate child on ABC’s Brothers and Sisters.
Now, he's set to appear in Fifty Shades of Grey and has a total of six movies in post-production ready to come out next year. We're all going to be seeing much more of this heartthrob in the near future, and that's a promise.
1 Jamie Dornan
It's a safe bet that unless you're a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey, you'll currently have absolutely no idea who Jamie Dornan is.
Soon, he'll be known to the world as Mr. Fifty Shades himself, playing the coveted role of Christian Grey. The former model hailing from Northern Ireland doesn’t have a huge acting resume but that could all change after his newest movie release. With such a memorable break out role, this actor better hope he doesn't get type-cast as the domineering love interest for the duration of his Hollywood career...
