10 Hollywood Relationships Rumored To Be Totally Fake

It’s amazing what some people are willing to do just to be famous. Celebrities change their appearance drastically just for the possibility of getting roles. These changes can be as simple as getting a new haircut, but can also be a bit more drastic, like getting a facelift, breast augmentation or a nose job. Some famous people even make “friends” with certain celebrities, with the hopes that these connections will help them make the A-list.

Then, there are the people who enter into fake relationships in Hollywood. These celebs know that the tabloids and gossip websites are watching, and they want to be seen in as many places as possible with their new “love.” Sometimes, one or both people in the relationship start to develop real feelings. Then again, there are more instances than you may think in which both people in the relationship have an understanding. They know that the fake romance is nothing more than a career move that could benefit them both. While some of these Hollywood relationships can be fun to watch, they’re basically a mockery of true love, marriage or commitment. Clearly, the rules in Hollywood are a little different than in the rest of the world. Here are 10 Hollywood relationships that are believed to be totally fake.

10 Henry Cavill and Kaley Cuoco

Actors Kaley Cuoco and Henry Cavill have both moved on from their fake relationship, and rather quickly. A couple of years ago, the two were rumored to have a budding romance, and appeared on the red carpet at the premier of Henry Cavill’s movie Man of Steel. A few days after the premier, they were “no longer seeing each other.” There was no news of the two of them having a huge disagreement, and there really wasn’t time for infidelity. Obviously, the “relationship” was a publicity stunt by the actors’ respective PR teams to give Cavill and his movie more buzz. The pairing likely gave Cuoco, who stars on The Big Band Theory, a career boost as well.

9 Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

He was an actor who needed to get more press. She was a singer and actor who wanted to change her image. Put the two together, and you’ve got a relationship made in…Hollywood. Perhaps the two were genuinely interested in each other at one point. However, when they saw how much publicity they were both getting, there’s a good chance that their respective teams encouraged them to add a little drama to the situation. They became “engaged,” but there were several times that Cyrus was seen without her ring. Then they broke up, and a year or so later, they tried to reconcile, after a letter Miley wrote to Liam “surfaced.” Suspicious, indeed.

8 Julianne Hough and Ryan Seacrest

When King of Hosts Ryan Seacrest, and Dancing With the Stars alum Julianne Hough became an item, they went on a vacation to St. Tropez less than a month later. In Hollywood, this could be a clue indicating that the relationship is fake. After all, most “normal” people don’t go on such extravagant vacations after only knowing each other for a short time. However, when you’ve got millions to spare, it’s no big deal, right? They were also seen embracing on the balcony of their vacation, with Seacrest looking directly in the paparazzi camera. When the publicity stunt (or relationship) ended, Ryan gifted Julianne with a $3 million mansion, which was likely a thank-you gift for boosting Seacrest’s career. People were starting to wonder when the bachelor would “find a nice girl,” and the relationship did the trick, for the time being.

7 Kevin and Danielle Jonas

The Jonas Brothers used to be one of the hottest bands around. Then, the brothers went on to pursue solo projects. Kevin, the oldest, met a girl named Danielle, and decided to marry her. The couple then got a deal for a reality show, Married to Jonas. After all, the family had to find a way to keep the money flowing, since The Jonas Brothers were no longer touring. Also, Nick Jonas started a solo music career, and Joe Jonas was in the news for his sordid relationships and substance abuse problems, so Kevin was probably using the show as a way to keep the family relevant as well. Although Danielle gave birth to a baby girl in 2014, some believe that the child isn’t Kevin’s and others think Danielle faked the pregnancy altogether.

6 Harry Styles and Taylor Swift

5 Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn

4 Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

When Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise got together, people were a little surprised, to say the least. After all, fans hadn’t quite gotten over the shock that Cruise had divorced his wife, actress Nicole Kidman. Holmes stated that she has always had a crush on Cruise, so dating him was like a dream. However, there are rumors that Katie Holmes left her fiance, actor Chris Klein, in order to start dating Cruise. Holmes and Klein were together for years, but we’re guessing the relationship wasn’t doing much for Katie’s career. Allegedly, the Holmes-Cruise marriage was also a bit of a business deal, since it’s been rumored that Tom Cruise has his wives sign contracts. How romantic.

3 Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian

Do we really need to make a case for this one? It’s not a secret that the Kardashians have been known to do some crazy things for the cameras. Apparently, they’re not above staging a marriage to get ratings for their reality shows, and to up the price, publications are willing to pay for their photos. There was even a reality show special showcasing Kim Kardashian’s wedding to basketball player Kris Humphries. When the two decided to end their marriage after just 72 days, there were some episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians in which Kim was agonizing over the decision and needed the support of her family. She quickly moved on, started dating Kanye West, had a daughter with West, married him (once her divorce from Humphries was final), and is expecting a son with Kanye.

2 Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens

Remember when Disney’s High School Musical movies were practically the most popular things ever? Well, part of the reasons why the movies were so appealing was because of the main characters, played by Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron. These two attractive young actors appeared on a lot of red carpet events together, and teens everywhere swooned over just how dreamy the two were. Sure, they were in love in the movies, but that doesn’t mean they were a real-life couple. They were slightly awkward in front of the cameras, and seemed more like they were good friends than boyfriend and girlfriend. When they decided to “call it quits” after High School Musical was no longer a thing, their co-stars addressed the breakup in interviews, indicating that they wanted to be there for them both, and that the entire cast had grown close.

1 Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

Sorry to break it to you, Twilight fans. The Stewart-Pattinson pairing was probably just smart public relations at best. It’s quite suspicious that Robert and Kristen were “so in love” while the Twilight movies were popular, but near the end of the movie series, the two started to have problems in their relationship. When Stewart started working on the set of another movie, Snow White and The Huntsman, she began an affair with Rupert Sanders, the movie’s director. Sanders was married at the time. Of course, this got everyone talking. Then, there were stories that Robert was heartbroken and was moving out of the home that the two shared. But they were able to “patch things up” to promote the last Twilight movie. Now, they are no longer together.
