The source of all good acting in movies, television and on stage comes from replicating all the different human emotions in such a way that audiences can personally identify with what the characters are supposed to feel throughout the production. The portrayal of joy, fear, anger, lust and love by actresses and actors can make or break any film, show or play.
For the most part, professional actors and actresses have learned to adapt to the reality of creating fake romance for their audiences, focusing on getting the scene right rather than the romantic implications of making out without any clothes on in front of a film crew. Nevertheless, producing steamy fictional love scenes results in plenty of hook-ups off screen and has started a fair share of real life relationships.
One actor, James Franco, even started his acting career out of the jealousy created by another guy kissing his girlfriend in a high school play. Others are completely comfortable with their partners getting up close and personal with their co-stars on the big screen, like Will Smith, who said that “Jada's done love scenes... she knows the director's behind you... there are 50 people sitting around and a grip eating a hot dog.”
10 Jamie Dornan & Amelia Warner
The celebrity rumor mill kicked into overdrive when whispers about Jamie Dornan leaving the 50 Shades of Grey franchise circulated around the entertainment industry. Considering the profits generated by the franchise, refusing to sign on as Christian Grey for future productions would result in leaving a lot of money and fame on the table.
One of the reasons first reported involved his wife, Amelia Warner, who was said to be so uncomfortable with the sex in the movie that he was willing to walk away.
These rumors also could be a way for the studio to gauge the reaction of fans and the media to decide whether to bring him back for the next installment.
9 Ewan McGregor & Eve Mavrakis
Unfortunately, Ewan McGregor's wife, Eve Mavrakis, was pregnant when he was filming the cult hit Trainspotting, based on a novel written by Irvine Welsh. The book contains uncensored depictions of sex, addiction and other taboos which the movie doesn't hold back from showing the audience.
One scene features Ewen McGregor engaged in an explicit scene with Kelly MacDonald, understandably making Eve jealous. She said, "Maybe it was my hormones, but it took me until after the birth not to tremble when I saw Kelly."
Ewen, on the other hand, has appeared naked in a few movies, including Velvet Goldmine and The Pillow Book, admitting that he feels a powerful rush when he does nude scenes.
8 Anna Paquin & Stephen Moyer
True Blood features some of the most intense sex scenes in vampire television, which have recently caused a stir due to their authenticity.
One scene filmed for season four of the series ended up being particularly hot, so much so that Anna Paquin's husband, Stephen Moyer, lost his temper on more than one occasion. He wasn't pleased with how much co-star Alexander Skarsgard enjoyed filming the scene, especially considering Alexander's breakup with Kate Bosworth.
Stephen's furious reaction apparently surprised Anna, who made a point of soothing her husband's jealousy by taking frequent breaks to kiss him or whisper in his ear during filming.
7 Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis
A Hollywood insider source reported that Vanessa Paradis experienced such a strong negative reaction to the prospect of a nude scene between her former husband Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie that she demanded the scene be stricken from the script.
The scene in The Tourist that required nudity took place in a hot shower, where Depp and Jolie would paw at each other after he enters the bathroom and lifts her against the glass.
Reports state that Paradis pressured her husband at the time and Johnny Depp eventually agreed. The producers accepted Depp's criticism that the scene was pointless and made the movie worse, removing the racy encounter from the film.
6 Patricia Arquette & Thomas Jane
Patricia Arquette's ex-husband, Thomas Jane, played a male escort on the show Hung. The role required him to frequently get naked and feel the romance with another actress on-screen.
She could not deal with watching Thomas when his sex scenes came up, saying "I don't like it. I can't look at it. That's my love".
According to Arquette, in order to lessen the impact of his erotic acting, Thomas would cover her eyes and ears while saying, "you don't need to see, this is not for you, you're not going to like this!"
Recently, she won the 2015 Best Supporting Actress Oscar and gave a rousing acceptance speech after her win, using her chance to address the world by demanding wage equality for women in the United States of America.
5 Harry Hamlin & Lisa Rinna
As one of the stars The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lisa Rinna is used to having her private life broadcast out to the general public. However, despite her experience as an actress for soap operas and dramas such as Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, she still gets very uncomfortable with steamy love scenes involving her husband.
She went out of her way to broadcast her discomfort with husband Harry Hamlin on Twitter when he was shooting a sex scene during 2010, tweeting "Why did I wake up cranky?" and "Could it be the full on Love scene my Husband is shooting in his Movie today", to which the world responded "yes".
4 Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner
Bennifer part two has had its challenges just like any other marriage, with Ben Affleck's role in Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl causing Jennifer Garner serious consternation, according to various Hollywood sources.
Director David Fincher doesn't flinch when portraying the writer's visceral sex scenes, leading Jennifer Garner to warn all the co-star actresses to stay away from Ben, particularly Rosamund Pike and Emily Ratajkowski, both of whom get steamy with Ben during the movie.
Unfortunately, celebrity news suggests that Emily and Ben's on-screen scenes and cozy rapport off screen have lead to recent arguments about the film's impact on the marriage of Bennifer II.
3 Dakota Johnson & Jordan Masterson
Jamie Dornan wasn't the only star of 50 Shades of Grey to experience relationship complications due to explicit scenes in the movie.
Dakota Johnson's longtime boyfriend, Jordan Masterson, who is also an actor from an acting family, ended up getting caught in the media storm surrounding the popular book and film. Rumors suggest that the sexy scenes and the newfound fame Dakota now commands has been a significant source of jealousy.
Due his links to the Church of Scientology, it's been suggested that Jordan has been attempting to get Dakota to convert to Scientology as a means to help cope with her growing success.
2 Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were involved in an infamous off-screen love triangle involving director Rupert Sanders in 2012, ruining the fairy tale shine of the Twilight stars' romance and spurring Sanders' wife Liberty Bell to file rightfully for divorce.
Despite this real life affair, their reconciliation and Robert moving on to date FKA Twigs, Pattinson apparently still felt jealous when Kristen Stewart recently filmed love scenes with Nicholas Hoult on the set of Equals.
Reports suggest that Robert and Kristen were in touch fairly frequently up until the shooting of Equals, implying that the special friendship between the two celebrities has gone through another big change.
1 Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan-Tatum
The man that captures the attention of women around the world also has trouble managing his jealousy when his wife becomes involved in on-screen love scenes.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum admitted during an interview that Channing Tatum becomes jealous and uncomfortable whenever she has to disrobe or film a love scene on the set of The Witches of East End.
Despite the fact that he's considered one of the most desirable men in the world and has performed plenty of racy acting, such as the lead role in Magic Mike, he still worries that another man will swoop in and claim his wife.
Jenna is just fine with this, saying that it would be strange if he was comfortable with other guys being with her on-screen.
