The film was actually the first Marvel movie to make it past the $ 1 billion mark in ticket sales. But The Avengers didn’t just pass the $1 billion mark; it destroyed it. The film ended up making $1.518 billion. When you consider the fact that the budget was $220 million, that makes a pretty hefty profit. Obviously the film broke a ton of box office records. It became the highest grossing Disney film of all time, the third highest grossing film of all time, and the highest grossing film of 2012.
