10 Crazy Celebrity Meltdowns You Might Have Missed

Hollywood wouldn't be Hollywood without the drama, and Tinseltown's celebrities regularly oblige by throwing hissy fits and temper tantrums. However, for every acknowledged prima donna who we hear about and roll our eyes, there are the stars that surprise us with an outburst. Perhaps it's because they're not a household name, or maybe because we tend to think they're down-to-earth, quiet and not prone to temper tantrums. When we hear about normally low key public figures melting down, we're shocked. In some cases, perhaps, the meltdowns are justified, but that doesn't make them any less surprising.

We've all heard about Amanda Bynes and Mel Gibson, and the media has detailed their famous meltdowns ad nauseam. But trust us, there's even more Hollywood drama than just those we hear about all the time. And some of them are way more interesting...

10 Paula Deen

9 Michael Bay

Director Michael Bay should probably stay behind the camera from now on. The “Transformers” director appeared at Samsung's January CES press conference to help promote the company's new TVs. However, due to an issue with the teleprompter, Bay flubbed his lines. This was less of a meltdown and more of a painfully embarrassing and very public moment of unfortunate unprofessionalism. But instead of trying to recover from his mistake and ad libbing the rest of the segment, Bay simply gave up. Samsung exec Joe Stinziano tried to help Bay out by talking about the curved TV, but Bay just couldn't do it and walked off.

8 Jonah Hill

7 Jenna Jameson

Possibly the most surprising thing about Jenna Jameson showing up on this list is that she's still relevant. Perhaps her little meltdowns are the only reason this adult entertainment queen is still being talked about today, but we have to admit, they're entertaining. In 2013, Jameson supposedly used iPhone brass knuckles to attack her assistant Britney Markham at a birthday party. She said that Markham tried to rob her house, but Jameson ended up being the one who was arrested. Also in 2013, she took to Twitter to blast her ex, former UFC fighter Tito Ortiz, after he was granted custody of their twins. Instead of handling things like an adult, she posted about how her ex did drugs and faked drug tests for the UFC - she even threatened to post the photos of him using drugs. She posted “My children need their mother not a random drug addict,” and “If you don't like what I'm saying, sue me for my home your {sic} living in, sue me for furniture YOU have, sue me for my Phantom! Keep up your lies.” Keep it classy, Jenna.

6 Adam Levine

5 Gwyneth Paltrow

Oh Gwyneth – you just can't win, can you? As one of the most hated celebs of our era, it seems that you're destined to spend your life putting your foot in your mouth over and over again. In 2013, Vanity Fair decided to run an article about the love/hate relationship the world seems to have with Gwyneth Paltrow. Nothing terribly shocking really, but once Paltrow got word about the article, she sent out a mass e-mail to all her showbiz friends stating, “Vanity Fair is threatening to put me on the cover of their magazine without my participation. I recommend you all never do this magazine again.” She also asked that no one speak to the magazine about her, or anything else, ever again. This e-mail made its way to the New York Post, and well, that only led to the rumors about her escalating, as people wondered what Paltrow had to hide.

4 Samuel L. Jackson

Many of these meltdowns aren't justified, but in the case of this one, the reporter totally had it coming. After all, how can you mistake Samuel L. Jackson for Laurence Fishburne? Especially considering the fact that you're a long-time entertainment reporter. But alas, Sam Rubin did just that. He asked Samuel L. Jackson, “Working for Marvel, the Super Bowl commercial, did you get a lot of reaction to that Super Bowl commercial?” And Jackson had to ask, “What Super Bowl commercial?” because, well, he wasn't in one.

It was, in fact, Fishburne who appeared in a Kia ad where he appeared as his character, Morpheus, from The Matrix movies. Jackson went off on a justifiable rant, “See, you're as crazy as the people on Twitter. I'm not Laurence Fishburne! We don't all look alike! We may be all black and famous, but we don't look alike!” He also asked the question we've all been asking ourselves, “You're the entertainment reporter? And you don't know the difference between me and Laurence Fishburne? There must be a very short line for your job.” Rubin tried to laugh it off and he issued an official apology, but insists he was simply confused because he saw a Captain America ad that had run during the Super Bowl as well.

3 Justin Bieber

2 Reese Witherspoon

After a while, it's hard to not let the fame get to your head. And even Hollywood's sweethearts are prone to throwing around the "Do you know who I am?" card now and then. Reese Witherspoon is apparently no exception. In a police video, which was obtained by TMZ, Witherspoon is seen arguing with an Atlanta police officer when her husband is pulled over for driving under the influence of alcohol, firing off statements such as “Do you know my name? You're about to find out who I am.” She later apologized for her behavior and said she freaked out after watching her husband get arrested, but her little meltdown didn't help matters at all. Instead, she was also arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Oops.

1 Shia LaBeouf

Shia LaBeouf has taken “sorry, not sorry” to a new level. First, the actor plagiarized a short film, and when served with a cease and desist letter, decided that Tweeting it would be better than actually responding to it. Then he plagiarized his apology, and when he was caught doing that, he paid for a plane to write out his apology in the L.A. sky. Of course, this wasn't the first, or even the worst of his antics. Most of his earlier stunts could be written off as the typical entitlement that comes from being famous at a young age, but these recent acts have made people wonder if there's not something wrong with LaBeouf. Could he be suffering from a nervous breakdown? Or is this just his attempt at performance art, as has been rumoured? We may never know.
