Playboy is the iconic men's magazine that has turned stars like Marilyn Monroe, Denise Richards and Pamela Anderson into instant sex icons. It has also launched the careers of many women and has immortalized them within the pages of the glossy mag. Throughout the years, celebrities have turned to Playboy magazine in order to garner more attention, extend their fame and show off their bodies. However, Hugh Hefner has turned down many celebrities that had aspirations to pose for Playboy. In essence, Hefner makes the statement, 'Just because you’re a celebrity, doesn't mean you’re good enough for Playboy.' Here are ten celebrities Hugh Hefner didn't want to see naked.
10 Bridget Marquardt
9 Michaele Salahi
8 Audrina Patridge
Former Hills star, Audrina Patridge had professional nude photos taken of her when she was nineteen years old. The photos were reportedly submitted to Playboy, but the famous magazine turned her down. There was no reason as to why The Hills star was rejected. In 2008, after two years of starring on The Hills, Audrina's topless photos were "accidentally" leaked online, but it appeared that Playboy still had no interest in Patridge, because they felt she wasn't relevant enough.
7 Kate Gosselin
Reality TV star, Kate Gosselin from TLC's Jon and Kate Plus Eight, was reportedly rejected by Playboy. Hefner responded to questions if Kate would pose for Playboy by stating, "No! No!" and adding, "I don't think she's a celebrity." At the time Hugh Hefner made those statements, Kate Gosselin was a contestant on the show, Dancing With The Stars, which Hefner couldn't make sense of either, since he didn't consider her a celebrity. Kate Gosselin's ex husband, Jon Gosselin, was offered a measly $20,000 to pose nude for Playgirl, with the intention of a novelty shoot, rather than a sexy shoot. Playgirl rep, Daniel Nardicio told Life & Style Magazine, "His star is extinguishing and he's not very [well endowed]" - Ouch! Jon Gosselin decided to turn down Playgirl's offer, while Kate Gosselin never received an offer.
In 2003, Julia Volkova and Lena Katina, the Russian lesbians of the singing duo, t.A.T.u were turned down by Playboy after Julia turned eighteen years old. t.A.T.u was most famous for their song, 'All the Things She Said' and the two were extremely excited to pose for Playboy, but Hugh Hefner had something else to say. Playboy was not interested in seeing the two singers pose naked, but they did include t.A.T.u in their music section, with their clothes on.
5 Courtney Stodden
Teen bride, Courtney Stodden tweeted the day after her eighteenth birthday, “No to p**n…Yes to Playboy,” but Hugh Hefner had something else in mind when he rejected the eighteen year old, citing that she looked far too enhanced and that she didn't meet the standards of a Playboy model. Since her rejection, Stodden has had her breasts enhanced to a Double D size. It's clear Playboy is not an option for Courtney, but pornography is still on the table for this former reality star.
4 Pia Rizza
In 2013, Mob Wive's reality television star, Pia Rizza was rejected by Playboy magazine for a nude feature. The forty year old had reportedly found out someone was trying to sell her nude photos, so she tried to release them herself. She submitted her nudes to the men's magazine, but Playboy quickly shut the idea down, saying they were not interested. Afterwards, Rizza denied ever submitting pictures to Playboy or even wanting to pose for the magazine.
3 Lindsay Lohan
In 2011, Lindsay Lohan was paid $1 million to pose nude for Playboy, but her first set of shots were rejected by Hugh Hefner. An E exclusive confirmed that she was asked to come back for a second shoot, because Playboy wanted to go in another direction with her spread. Although Lohan graced the cover of the January 2012 edition of Playboy, her first set of photos were initially rejected.
2 Farrah Abraham
1 Kelly Osbourne
In 2007, Hollywoodscoop confirmed that Kelly Osbourne expressed her interest in posing for Playboy. At that time, Osbourne was much heavier and was rocking a short black haircut. Hef responded to Osbourne’s interest with, “I can’t see it happening somehow; we don’t airbrush to that extent." Since 2007, the Fashion Police co-host has lost 70 pounds and has completely revamped her style, trading in her gothic looking style for a more chic, feminine look. Perhaps, Hefner would entertain the idea now.
