The DC Comics Shared Universe Films are a series of upcoming superhero movies based on DC Comics characters and properties. The films are set in a shared fictional universe that will see the crossing over of characters, locations, cast and storylines, which is similar to the DC Comics Universe. It follows the success of the critically and commercially acclaimed Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Marvel Cinematic Universe revolves around Marvel Comics characters, such as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and super teams, The Guardians Of The Galaxy and The Avengers. After seeing the enormous success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC Comics decided to create their own.
The first film in the series was Man of Steel, released on June 14, 2013. It was a reboot of the Superman franchise. The plot revolved around the origin story of Superman. Zack Snyder directed the film. David S. Goyer wrote the script based on a story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan. However, DC Comics Shared Universe Films is not connected to Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy. Man Of Steel starred Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane and Henry Cavill as Superman. The DC Comics Shared Universe Films and the DC Comics Shared Universe TV are considered separate universes. The CW series The Flash and Green Arrow, are not connected to the films in the series.
For decades, comic book fans have debated and dreamt of the day that some of their favorite super heroes could fight with and against each other. Very soon, every comic book fans dream will finally come true. All release dates are tentative and could be pushed back or changed. Here is a look at 10 upcoming DC Comics Shared Universe Films.
