You hear about big name celebrities ending up in jail all the time; for everything from drunk driving to theft and petty crimes. So it shouldn’t be that shocking to hear that reality TV stars also end up behind bars more often than they would like to admit. With reality shows still being the craze of today it’s no wonder these stars have a hard time keeping their names out of the media.

Shows such as Teen Mom and the Real Housewives tend to feature more stars that get into trouble than not. From nasty custody battles to restraining orders, these stars air their dirty laundry on and off the screen. The crime of choice for many of these TV stars happens to be fraud and one would think with the amount of money they are making from these shows; they wouldn't have to be cheating anyone.

Luckily for celebrities; reality stars or not, the courts tend to be a little less harsh and some of the stars below managed to spend only a few hours behind bars. But for others there are years being served and the chance for early release will be slim. From a husband and wife serving time for a joint charge to stars that have truly turned their lives around; here are 10 reality TV stars who have served time behind bars.

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice is currently spending 15 months in prison after pleading guilty in March 2014 to bankruptcy fraud and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. In early 2015 she turned herself in to authorities and began her sentence at the minimum security prison that inspired the hit Netflix show; Orange is the New Black. After her sentence is completed, her husband will then spend 41 months serving time for the same fraud charges. Leaving their four daughters with one parent in charge for the next 56 months. We sure hope this reality TV show couple turn themselves around after this escapade.
