Music is one of the cornerstones of popular culture, and especially since the MTV era, which saw artists such as Michael Jackson using music videos to further promote their craft.
From music videos costing ridiculous amounts of money (we're looking at you again, Jacko), to those that are beyond bizarre, the years have been kind and cruel to us for a variety of videos that stand out.
Among those that remain favourable are those in which we see good girl images turn bad and the men of music show us just what the showbiz lifestyle is all about. These particular music videos create a list that is remembered from our youth to the present day, and are a stark reminder of the lengths some artists go to get their tunes seen - and heard - by the masses.
Prepare yourselves for good girls gone very bad, plenty of scantilybclad women cavorting, some dressing up and so much more as we trawl through the archives and bring to you the music videos that are quite simply the sexiest and the most unforgettable. Make sure you let us know if we've featured your favourites or if you think there is one particular video that we've shamefully missed from the years of outstanding artist showcases. Just don't go shaving your head and going Britney-crazy on us if we do forget your favourite!
15 Long Hot Summer - Girls Aloud
They may have gone their separate ways, but lest we forget the multiple talents of the gorgeous girls from Girls Aloud. They originally banded together via UK talent show, Popstars: The Rivals way back in 2002. Having won the hearts of the British public, the girl group soon found themselves shooting to the top of the charts on a regular basis and producing some rather memorable videos.
Most memorable of all in their long list of catchy tunes was "Long Hot Summer." Determined to show the boys exactly what they had in a rather simmering video, the group (consisting of Cheryl, Nadine, Kimberley, Sarah and Nicola) would produce a car garage scene like few others. Sweating from the heat and covered in oil and grease, the girls looked every bit the fantasy of millions of men as they teased us with scenes straight out of our very dreams.
14 Buttons - The Pussycat Dolls
No wonder Snoop Dogg wanted to get in on the act with the Pussycat Dolls for their song "Buttons." After all, the song itself was hinting at plenty, but when the video was produced it certainly turned plenty more heads. Spearheaded by the ever-appealing Nicole Scherzinger, the group showed off their sexual prowess with some true feats of flexibility and their ability to dance atop of chairs. Dressed in revealing black outfits they showed the world that they could dance and that Nicole Scherzinger could belt out the tunes (sorry to the rest of the group). Rumour has it that Lewis Hamilton is still crying himself to sleep watching this video...
13 Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke feat T.I. & Pharrell
We all know that Robin Thicke is one hell of a sleezeball following that incident with Miley Cyrus and the infamous picture of him with the random blonde chick, but we still can't thank him enough for introducing the world to Emily Ratajkowski. In a video that literally sees the Instagram favourite kinda just messing around completely naked around the singer, the YouTube community blew up and Thicke suddenly saw himself an overnight sensation. Not only producing one of the hits of that year, but a video to join its ranks, Thicke certainly hit the jackpot, despite a breakdown in his marriage with Paula Patton, and we reaped the rewards as well.
12 Lady Marmalade - Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya & Lil' Kim
As if the promise of one beautiful woman in suitable Moulin Rouge attire wasn't enough, 2001 gave us the pleasure of four strutting their stuff and belting out a truly unforgettable number. Accompanying the Baz Luhrmann film, Pink, Mya, Lil Kim and Christina Aguilera would produce something truly remarkable in outfits that made many of our own mothers question the state of music television. With suggestive dancing, skimpy burlesque outfits and a scintillating question that needed no answering whatsoever, these four women brought even more sexiness to an already fiery movie that had plenty of hearts pulsating.
11 Lapdance - N.E.R.D.
Way before he was collaborating with the likes of Daft Punk, and producing catchy family-friendly hits such as "Happy," Pharrell was hitting the hip-hop and R&B world with his group N.E.R.D., proving that the darker side of music was right up his street. And none more so than with his popular hit "Lapdance," which produced a video that you wouldn't see until the post-watershed hours, given its obvious nature. Giving us everything we expect from a song entitled as such, the video showed Pharrell at his best in the midst of beautiful and downright dirty women keen to show the camera and their men what they had. The remixes weren't all bad either...
10 Bad Intentions - Dr. Dre feat Knoc-Turnal
When you're someone like Dr Dre, literally any woman would fall at your feet and that was evident in the video for his collaboration with Knoc-turnal. Delivering his very own version of a brothel-slash-Playboy-mansion, Dre and his cohort enjoyed the company of some rather beautiful, willing, and scantily clad women keen to show them a good time. Of course, whatever suits the king of hip-hop certainly floats our boat and it still remains one of those videos that is definitely worth a revisit now and again.
9 Hot In Herre - Nelly
R&B star Nelly may look like a bit of an idiot when it comes to wearing a band aid on his face, but it's hard to deny that this is a man who knows how to get some rather hot and heavy girls to feature in his videos. Known for having one hell of a posse to feature in his videos, the group in his video for "Hot In Herre" proved that sweaty situations make for some of the sexiest possible. Pack everyone into the club, start getting people to take their clothes off and even set the roof on fire and you've got the ultimate recipe for sexiness. Blazin'!
8 Work It - Nelly feat Justin Timberlake
Another entry on the list for Nelly and this time around he's joined by Justin Timberlake as they storm the Playboy Mansion and show that it's not only Hugh Hefner who can have a good time with the Bunnies.
As mischievous gardeners looking to get in on the action, JT and Nelly storm the castle and soon enough find themselves surrounded by some truly stunning women, including favourites such as Holly Madison. If that wasn't enough, some fun on the tennis court ensues and just how the guys manage to play pool without distraction is anyone's guess!
7 These Boots Are Made For Walkin' - Jessica Simpson
She may have got completely mixed up with the difference between chicken and tuna, but Jessica Simpson certainly didn't confuse anything when it came to looking absolutely smokin' in the video for "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'." The blonde bombshell, fresh from her stint as Daisy Duke in the Dukes Of Hazzard movie, took it upon herself to show us how to don those short jeans and cowboy boots and look sexy as all. If that wasn't enough, an obligatory car wash in the skimpiest of red bikinis ensured that this particular video was everything and more that us guys needed to go and see that movie.
6 Beautiful Liar - Shakira feat Beyonce
When two talents such as Beyonce and Shakira collide you simply know that something special is about to be witnessed. That came in the form of their partnership for the song "Beautiful Liar," a combination of their vocal prowess and their ability to render the male species awe-stricken. In the video, we saw Bey and Shakira do what they do best and flaunt their perfectly toned bodies to perform the most tantalizing of dances. Perfectly in sync and teasing us with their steely looks and flexibility, this is a pair of women who ooze sex from every pore. It's videos like these that make you realize that women like this surely cannot be real. Surely not...
5 Satisfaction - Benny Benassi
It's rather apt that electronic sensation Benny Benassi decided to name his song "Satisfaction," as the video to accompany this particular summer tune is summed up perfectly by that one simple word. While typically we would expect to see overweight builders' bums and leering old men shouting obscenities from a building site, "Satisfaction" flipped that on its head in a spectacular way. Dispatching with the men and instead placing bikini-clad women in charge of the tools, this video would go down in history as one of the sexiest for its use of enticing women and, erm... its DIY ethos. It's still one of those videos you just can't watch with your mum in the room...
4 S&M - Rihanna
3 Chris Isaak - Wicked Game
Like a commercial advertising a popular fragrance, Chris Isaak's infamous video for the hit song "Wicked Game" stands the test of time when considering sexuality in music videos. Backed by a truly simmering music track, the black-and-white video features supermodel Helena Christenson as she and Isaak fumble in the sand, both topless and enjoying passionate moments with one another. It was a video that was showered with awards, and remains to this day one that will always be remembered as both groundbreaking and among the sexiest to have ever been put together.
2 I'm A Slave For You - Britney Spears
When Britney first burst onto the scene granting every schoolboys' dreams with a schoolgirl outfit unmatched by anyone, it wasn't until one very hot video that she became a true sex icon. Singing that she was a slave for us, Britney soon found her sexual side in a video not too dissimilar from one of Nelly's on our list, where things were hot and heavy in an apartment building. Britney, showing off her midriff and perfectly toned body, would breathe heavily, allow sweat to pour down her and allow men to get extremely close to her in a video that teenage boys and young men fell to their knees and thanked God for.
Then poor Britney shaved her head and our dreams and hopes were dashed...
1 Call On Me - Eric Prydz
It was as if Eric Prydz knew that one day we would have to literally call on him to create a truly worthy music video that would become one of the most unforgettable of all time. While the gym may be a bit of a slog at times, filled with steroid-heavy posers and tiny-waisted women, Prydz proved that it certainly has its perks - especially if you're up for a class or two. Enter the "Call On Me" video, which used his signature tune as the backdrop for a rather revealing and, ahem, cheeky video that had millions immediately signing up for those aerobics classes and donning the sweatbands on a more regular basis.
