10 Of The Most Popular Celebrity Podcasts

Podcasting is the epitome of Entertainment 2.0. Available for free download from iTunes, podcasts embrace everything people and broadcasters like about radio, without the confines of the FCC (meaning, it’s okay to say any of the seven words George Carlin says you can’t say on TV), time constraints or excessive commercial interruptions. While it feels as if many entertainers started podcasting to help promote the rest of their projects, podcasting has become so popular that it has become their main project. Below is a list of ten celebrity podcasts that are definitely worth listening to. While there are many over celebrity podcasts that do not appear on this list, these are the top ten worth your time. These have not only charted on iTunes, but they are very informational, sometimes irreverent and often brilliant.

You might know Jay Mohr from the films like Jerry Maguire and Picture Perfect or from his sitcom, Garry Unmarried. Mohr is also a brilliant stand-up comedian. In 2013, Mohr replaced Jim Rome on Fox Sports Radio. His podcast, Mohr Stories, consists of conversations with celebrity guests including Patton Oswalt, Colin Quinn, Judd Apatow and Duff McKagan. While interviewing others, Mohr doesn't shy away from sharing about his own life, revealing his struggles with addiction, divorce, his own personal belief in Catholicism or adorably gushing about his wife and muse, actress Nikki Cox.

7 After Party Pod with Anna David

After Party Pod is hosted by Anna David, who is a NY Times best selling author and former host of G4’s Attack of the Show. You have also seen her everywhere from various shows on HLN to The Insider and Fox News, commenting on celebrity drug addiction stories. A drug addict with over thirteen years of sobriety, she created her Podcast and website, AfterPartyChat.com to help other people struggling from the same problem. While After Party Pod started out as an interview show about addiction and recovery, she has expanded it to cover other mental health issues. Anna digs in deep, while still keeping it light, fun and just shocking enough, interviewing celebrities including Marc Maron, Kristen Jonhston, Alexis Neiers, Jason Wahler and Mackenzie Philips.

6 The Mental Illness Happy Hour with Paul Gilmartin

The Mental Illness Happy Hour is Paul Gilmartin's podcast. A stand-up comedian, he also co-hosted, Dinner & A Movie for over fifteen years on TBS. During this time, Gilmartin suffered from addiction and depression. After the show ended in 2011, Gilmartin started the podcast so other people suffering wouldn't feel so alone in their struggles. On the show, Gilmartin interviews both celebrities and non-celebrities, drawing out their deepest, darkest secrets. Some of the celebrities include Aisha Tyler, Teresa Strasser (one of the best episodes), Doug Benson, Paul F. Tompkins and many others.

5 For Crying Out Loud with Lynette Carolla & Stefanie Wilder-Taylor

For Crying Out Loud is hosted by Adam Carolla’s wife, Lynette and Stefanie Wilder-Taylor, who is a NY Times best selling author and host of the Nick Mom talk show, Parental Discretion. The podcast falls into the Kids and Family category on iTunes, but you really don't need kids to appreciate the show. FCOL isn’t the gabfest about every little accomplishment of their kids and first world problems rant that you would think it would be. Unlike The Real Housewives, these Hollywood ladies are actually real and very easy to relate to. More importantly, they aren't afraid to talk about it and make you laugh at the same time.

4 The Jillian Michaels Podcast

3 The Bret Easton Ellis Show Podcast

2 Loveline with Dr. Drew and Mike Catherwood

Loveline has been on the air as a radio show since 1984. If you didn't already know, Loveline is a call-in radio show, where listeners ask Dr. Drew and Mike Catherwood about sex, drug and relationships. The daily podcast is a replay of the previous night’s show. While many die-hard Loveline fans miss the days of Adam Carolla, Catherwood is just as funny and entertaining, but in a completely different way. There are also two spin-off podcasts, The Adam and Dr. Drew Show Podcast with Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew and the Mike and Drew From Loveline Podcast. Both of these podcasts are also worth listening to.

1 WTF with Marc Maron

via: jeffersongraham.net

What came first, the podcast or the celebrity? It’s hard to tell with Marc Maron’s WTF, which is the first podcast to inspire its own television show. His eponymous show, Maron, is currently in its second season on IFC. Prior to his podcast, Maron was a host on the now defunct Air America Radio, as well as a successful stand-up with over forty appearances on Conan O’Brien. Over 500 episodes later, WTF is often one of the top comedy podcasts on iTunes. The show begins with Maron taking about his life, relationships, neurosis and cats, and then he goes on to interview celebrity guests including, Zach Galifianakis, David Cross and Robin Williams.
