9 Hollywood Marriages That Ended On Rough Terms

Some celebrity marriages end amicably, because sometimes, as with non-celeberties, things just don’t work out. But, what about those relationships that end badly? Not “he should have gotten a pre-nup” bad, but bad like both the man and the woman bash each other in the press. Or perhaps, the only way former love-birds speak to each other is through their respective attorneys. Or the worse case scenario,  it gets so bad someone commits suicide. Here are ten celebrity marriages that ended terribly. Some of these relationships lasted for years and others, only days. Either way, it’s a fair bet the people involved in these headline-making relationships are broken up for good.

9 Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

8 Taylor and Russell Armstrong

Rarely is a relationship so horrible that one person commits suicide, but that’s exactly what happened to Taylor and Russell Armstrong, who starred together in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In 2011, they were in the middle of a nasty divorce, amidst rumors of domestic violence and money troubles. One night, Russell hit Taylor so hard in her face, that she had to have a plate put in her eye socket, reportedly to keep her eye from falling out. In August of that year, Russell hanged himself, and was discovered by his landlord. Taylor Armstong was recently re-married to her divorce attorney.

7 Kelsey and Camille Grammer

Like Taylor and the late Russell Armstrong, Kelsey and Camille Grammer were original cast members on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In the first season, Kelsey and Camille’s marriage was falling apart on camera, because Kelsey was having an affair with flight attendant Kayte Walsh, who he is now married to. Regarding the situation, Kelsey said, “'I was trying to pretend things were normal for the sake of letting her have that moment. It was just ill advised. I thought I could do something nice, some parting thing and so it was very painful and uncomfortable.” The marriage ended so badly the two no longer speak, except when it comes to matters of their children. Camille has been quoted as saying, “I hope and wish that some day we'll be able to communicate for our children because I think it's so important."

6 Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston

Last weekend, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie finally got married, six children and nine years later. But before Pitt was married to Jolie, he was married to Jennifer Aniston. Pitt reportedly met Jolie and had an affair with her, when he was still married to Aniston, while they were shooting Mr. And Mrs. Smith. Since then, Aniston hasn't had a child, but there are rumors almost constantly, that she is pregnant. She also hasn't been married, but she is engaged to actor Justin Theroux. Although tabloids have reported many rants about their divorce, neither one have said much to the press since.

5 Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy

This Real Housewife of New York, Skinny Girl Entrepreneur and onetime talk show host, Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy were almost happy, but not quite. After starring in two reality shows together, Bethenny Getting Married and Bethenny Ever After and having one daughter, Brynn, they called it quits. The problem was that their divorce dragged out for two years before it was finalized in 2014, after being married for only two years, when Bethenny filed the paperwork. There was the requisite “he-said, she-said,” but it was even more contentious than that. One huge issue of many was that Hoppy wouldn't leave the condo they shared. Bethenny had to ask a judge to evict him. Bethenny Unhappily Ever After.

4 Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom

3 Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

Last May, Kim Kardashian married rapper Kanye West, but in 2011, she married basketball player Kris Humphries. This marriage was seemingly more for the sake of good television than true love. After only 72 days of marriage, Kim filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Humphries filed a response, asking for an annulment rather than a divorce. A few months later, Kardashian announced she was pregnant with Kanye West’s baby and wanted her divorce to be finalized before the child was born. Humphries responded by trying to drag out the court proceeding for as long as possible, and the entire thing took about 18 months to be finalized, just a few weeks before North West was born.

2 Jesse James and Sandra Bullock

What an odd match and what a terrible ending! Actress Sandra Bullock and reality star Jesse James were married in 2005, and were divorced 5 years later, after it was discovered that James was cheating on Sandra with several women, including a neo-Nazi model. James admitted to cheating and publicly apologized to Bullock. He entered rehab, but it was too late to save their marriage. James then dated tattoo artist and LA Ink star, Kat Von D, but they soon broke up. Von D said James cheated on her “with at least 19 women.” Bullock said in a 2013 interview that she feels “permanently broken,” after her relationship with James.

1 Sara Evans and Craig Schelske

For someone who recorded a hit song called Perfect, her marriage sure wasn't. In 2006, country singer, Sara Evans split from Craig Schelske, her husband of 13 years. Things got so bad, Evans had to quit the reality show Dancing With The Stars, in the middle of the contest. Schelske accused Evans of cheating with several people, including musician Kenny Chesney. She accused him of verbal and emotional abuse, as well as having a problem with pornography. Evans ended up having to pay Schelske alimony, as a condition of the divorce, but was awarded primary custody of their children. In turn, she filed two temporary restraining orders from him, forbidding him to speak about her or the divorce in the press.
