Jeff Bezos Interested In Purchasing NFL's Seattle Seahawks

Microsoft co-founder and Seattle Seahawks owner and Paul Allen passed away on Oct. 15 of last year, leaving control of the team to his sister, Jody Allen.

But if Mrs. Allen decides to sell the team, one of the world's most powerful and influential men could be knocking on the door. According to a report from the Washington Post, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has "an interest" to purchase the Seahawks. The report cited a source "familiar with the NFL's thinking."

It was also outlined that other league owners "are keen" to have Bezos come aboard. Of course, it remains to be seen if the Seahawks will be put up for sale - though there aren't many firm indications of that happening in the near future.

In fact, none of the 32 NFL teams appear to be on the verge of selling. As the Washington Post noted, it lasted happened when David Tepper purchased the Carolina Panthers in 2018. Previous owner Jerry Richardson decided to sell following sexual harassment allegations, and the NFL fined him for this.

The Seahawks have been one of the NFL's best teams of the 2010s, so their value should only continue to grow over time. They've made the playoffs in six of the past seven years, winning two NFC Championships plus Super Bowl XLVIII in the 2013 season.

Right now, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is widely considered the frontrunner to win the MVP award. The 31-year-old quarterback has led Seattle to an 8-2 record through 10 games. He's completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 2,737 yards and 23 touchdowns against only two interceptions. The Seahawks are on the verge of clinching their seventh playoff berth in eight seasons.
