Rick Perry was born on March 4th 1950. He is the 47th and current Governor of Texas and the Republican Presidential primary candidate. Rick’s net worth currently stands at $3 Million.

Rick’s wealth comes from his family fortune, his successful career in politics and through his published books. His career in politics started at a very early age. After he finished his graduation, he joined the Air Force. Rick had the rank of captain while he was here. After he left The Air Force, he returned home to work as a cotton farmer with his father. At this time Perry thought of working in politics seriously. He was elected as Lieutenant Governor of Texas in 1998 and assumed governorship in December 2000 when the then Governor George W. Bush resigned to become President of the United States.

Rick Perry was elected to full gubernatorial terms in 2002, 2006 and 2010. He is the fourth Texas governor to serve three terms. This makes him the second longest serving U.S governor. Perry is also the longest serving governor in the history of Texas. In 2008, he served as Chairman of the Republican Governors Association. On 13th August 2011, Perry announced in South Carolina that he was running for the Republican nomination for the US President in the 2012 presidential election. However later Rick announced that he was suspending his campaign and offered support to Mitt Romney. On October 15th 2012, one of Perry’s aides said that he would be standing for re-election to his fourth term as governor in 2014.

Perry married his childhood sweetheart, Anita Thigpen. The couple has two children, Griffin and Sydney.
