Retired American banking executive and lawyer, Robert Edward Rubin has an estimated net worth of $100 million. He was a former cabinet member and served as the 70th United States Secretary of Treasury under the first and second administration of Bill Clinton. He was responsible in overseeing the loosening of financial industry underwriting guidelines which had been in place since the 1930s. Before going into government service, he spent 26 years at Goldman Sachs, where he eventually served as the member of the board and co-chairman between 1990 and 1992.

Born Robert Edward Rubin on August 29, 1938, he graduated summa cum laude with an A.B. in economics from Harvard College. He also went to Harvard Law, but only attended for three days. He later attended the London School of Economics and received an LL.B. from Yale Law School in 1964. He began his career in law at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton law firm that was based in New York City.

Rubin officially joined Goldman Sachs two years after graduating from Yale Law School and became a partner in 1971. He served as the Co-Chief Operation Officer and Vica Chairman of the firm from 1987 to 1990. He was the firm's Co-Senior Partner and Co-Chairman from 1990 to 1992. He spent 26 years serving the firm before working for the U.S. Government where he is a well-known democrat.

Rubin is married to Judith Leah Oxenberg Rubin. They have two children named James and Phillip.
