Turkish businesswoman Suzan Sabanci Dincer is the Chairman and Executive Board Member of Akbank with an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion as of March 2013. According to Forbes, she is the 22nd wealthiest person in Turkey and 1107th among the billionaires in the world.

Born Suzan Sabanci in Istanbul Turkey in 1965, she is a third generation member of the Sabanci family to run the family business, where she has earned her net worth of $1.3 billion. She began her banking career in 1986 and joined Akbank in 1989. With her leadership, the bank became the first deposit bank in Turkey to issue a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) rated Sustainability Report, and also pioneered the Carbon Disclosure Project in Turkey.

Over the past year, the stock price at Akbank is up by roughly 20%, which has increased Dincer’s fortune by $300 million since March 2012. She is married to Haluk Dincer, who is the chairman of the retail group Sabanci Holding. She also owns 2% of the retail electronics store Teknosa, which went public last year.

Mrs. Dincer is a member of the Institute of International Finance Board of Directors, the Emerging Markets Advisory Board, the National Bank of Kuwait's International Advisory Board, Blackstone's International Advisory Board, and Harvard University’s Global Advisory Council. She founded Akbank's International Advisory Board, a platform to discuss and evaluate global and local economic developments and their strategic implications for Turkey.

She also sits on the Chatham House Panel of Senior Advisers and serves as the Chairperson of the Turkish-British Business Council of Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK). She sits on the Board of Directors of the Global Relations Forum, the Forum Istanbul Honorary Advisory Board, and is a Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) member. She is also the Luxembourg Honorary Consul in Istanbul.

In 2012, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II awarded Suzan Sabancı Dinçer the title of "Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE)" in recognition of her proactive and influential contributions to the development of Turkey-UK relations. She is a graduate of Richmond College in the United Kingdom and holds a BA degree in Finance. She also holds an MBA which she earned from Boston University in the United States.
