Griselda has earned her money through drug deals in the early 70s and 80s. She was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment but was later released and deported to Columbia because of some technicalities. Her net worth once stood at a staggering $2 Billion. She is known as The Cocaine Godmother who used to work for the Medellin cartel. She was also a pioneer in the Miami based cocaine drug trade and the underworld.

Griselda Blanco was a pickpocket when she was a child. At the age of 14, she ran away and resorted to prostitution for a few years till she was 20. She married her first husband Carlos Trujillo. The couple had three sons. In the mid-70s, she and her second husband migrated to the US and settled in Queens, New York. They started a cocaine business there. In April 1975, she was indicted on federal drug conspiracy charges along with 30 of her subordinates. This was the biggest cocaine case in history at that time. She ran off to Columbia before she could be arrested, but it late 1970s, she returned to Miami.

She had four sons, three of whom were killed in Columbia. She had her youngest son, Michael Corleone Blanco by her lover, Dario Sepulveda. He left her in 1983. He returned to Columbia and kidnapped Michael as they could not agree over who would take custody. She then paid money to assassinate Sepulveda in Columbia and got her son back in Miami. She was shot to death by two gunmen on a motorcycle when she was walking out of a butcher shop in Medellin on September 3rd, 2012.
