During his teen years, Walter Faria did odd jobs and decided to drop out of school during his third year in college. He traded hogs, cottons, coffee, and grains until the 1990s. Faria started distributing beers for Schincariol and invested in Petropolis in 1998.

The company expanded into vodka and energy drinks. Faria acquired and build softdrinks and beer factories around Brazil. In 2013, Petropolis is known as the second largest beer manufacturer, and bought the naming rights of Salvador's World Cup stadium, also known as Itaipava Fonte Nova.

Walter Faria was born on April 18, 1955 in Pedranopolis, Brazil. He has a wife and a daughter who lived Boituva, Sao Paulo state, Brazil.
