Vivek Ranadive is an Indian businessman, engineer, author, speaker and philanthropist with an estimated net worth of $700 million.

He was born on October 7, 1957 in Mumbai, India. While growing up, he dreamed of attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was accepted at MIT when he was sixteen, unable to attend due to the Indian government's then-policy during the 70s of not releasing foreign currency to citizens wanting to study abroad. He camped outside the Reserve Bank of India, which eventually released the required foreign exchange worth one quarter of the tuition, leaving him with less than $100 in pocket for Boston.
