American philanthropist and businessman Thomas Golisano has an estimated net worth of $2.7 billion as of April 2016 according to Forbes. He founded Paychex which is considered as the U.S.' second-largest payroll processor.

Together with Larry Quinn, a real estate developer, Thomas Golisano was the former owner of the hockey team the Buffalo Sabres as well as the lacrosse team Buffalo Bandits. In addition to that, he was also one of the founding members of the Independence Party of New York. Under the party's team, he ran as the governor of New York in 2002, 1998 and 1994. However, he was never elected. Reports say that he has spent around $93 million for his campaigns and each time he ran, his number of votes increased.

Aside from being a political aspirant, Thomas Golisano is also known for his philanthropic works and activities. He is the founder of B. Thomas Golisano Foundation, an organization founded in 1995. He donated a huge sum of money to various organizations including Rochester Institute of Technology (B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences), University of Rochester (Golisano Children's Hospital), Nazareth College (Golisano Academic Center), Hartwick College of Oneonta, NY, Bishop Kearney High School, Our Lady of Mercy High School, Niagara University, Ave Maria University, Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida and Clinton Foundation.
