Together with Larry Quinn, a real estate developer, Thomas Golisano was the former owner of the hockey team the Buffalo Sabres as well as the lacrosse team Buffalo Bandits. In addition to that, he was also one of the founding members of the Independence Party of New York. Under the party’s team, he ran as the governor of New York in 2002, 1998 and 1994. However, he was never elected. Reports say that he has spent around $93 million for his campaigns and each time he ran, his number of votes increased.
