Thomas Barrack is an alumnus of the University of Southern California and the University of San Diego School of Law. After graduation, he started working for Herbert W. Kalmbach's law firm. After becoming a principal at the Robert M. Bass Group, he founded the Colony Capital. Eventually, he received investment from GE Capital, Bass, Eli Broad, Koo Chen-fu and Merrill Lynch. He has previously served on the board of directors of Kerner, Accor, Continental Airlines, Megaworld Properties & Holdings, Korea First Bank, and First Republic Bank.
