After turning down their father's proposal to take over the Ziff Davis Inc., Robert and his brothers, Dirk and Daniel, went on to invest their inheritance to real estate, debt, equities, private equity, commodity and hedge funds. Today, Robert Ziff has an estimated net worth of $5 billion.
Robert, Dirk and Daniel are the sons of the late media magnate, William Ziff Jr. who was the co-founder of Ziff Davis Inc., a popular publisher of technology magazines in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1994, William Ziff Jr. had to sell 95% of the company's stake to Forstmann Little & Company for $1.4 since his sons were not interested with the company.
