Ray R. Irani was born on January 15, 1935 in Lebanon. Of Palestinian origin, he attended the American University of Beirut where he earned his degree in Chemistry. Eventually, he went to the University of California where he studied Physical Chemistry. He is currently married with 3 children. He currently lives in Beverly Hills.
He was a part of the Occidental Petroleum for 20 years where he served as Director, CEO, and Chairman of the Board. In 2014, he was replaced by Stephen Chazen as the CEO of Occidental Petroleum. Chazen currently serves as the company's President. Today, Oxy is considered as one of the biggest oil companies in the world.
