Born Lorenzo Joseph Fertitta, he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1991 from the University of San Diego. In 1993, he obtained his MBA at New York University’s Stern School of Business. Since then, he has held various positions with Fertitta Enterprises. He served as the vice president from 1991 to 1993. He became the president and chief executive officer from June 1993 to July 2000. He was responsible in the management of an investment portfolio that consisted of marketable securities and real property.
Lorenzo Fertitta is also the major shareholder and a co-founder of Station Casinos Inc where he served as a member of the board of directors in 1991. In July 2000, he gained the position of president. However, on June 19, 2008, he stepped down as the president to work for Zuffa, LLC. Stations Casinos later filed for bankruptcy after a lawsuit was filed by an individual bondholder. He came back to billionaire status because of the growing popularity of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
