American entrepreneur and businessman H. Wayne Huizenga has an estimated net worth of $2.6 billion as of April 2016 according to Forbes.

Of Dutch ancestry, Harry Wayne Huizenga was born on December 29, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois. After completing his high school at Pine Crest School, Huizenga attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After his marriage to Joyce VanderWagon which ended only six years after, he married Marti Goldsby six years after. He has two children from his first marriage, Scott and Harry Wayne Jr.

His career started with Waste Management, Inc. in 1968, and through time, he has aggressively acquired several garbage hauling companies. It came public in 1972 with 133 small-time haulers. In 1983, Waste Management, Inc. became U.S.'s largest waste disposal company.

In 1987, he started Blockbuster Video and eventually, it evolved into U.S.'s leading movie rental chain. In 1996, AutoNation was established like his first ventures, it became the  largest automotive dealer in the country. Recently, he has acquired the Fortune 500 company.

In 2004, he sold his ownership to various hotels which include The Hyatt Pier 66 Hotel, Radisson Bahia Mar Hotel & Marina, The Boca Raton Resort & Club and several others found in Arizona, Florida and Naples. He is also the previous owner of the Miami Dolphins, Florida Panthers, and Miami Marlins.

Wayne Huizenga is a five-time recipient of  "CEO of the Year" award from Financial World magazine. In 2005, he was Ernst and Young's World Entrepreneur of the Year.
